" I have to go to a last minute work meeting in Nashville (I live in Memphis) and part of the meeting will be a Sounds ball game at First Tennessee Park. I've never been there (I am not a baseball fan) and I have no idea if it is a no carry location. I imagine it is but I am wondering if they have metal detectors or do searches. Anyone in Nashville know if it is a gun free zone for sure? "

" Haven't been able to check in for a while, hay season is in full swing here. First cutting is nearly done, one last field to cut and bale once the weather allows and that will be it for now. So far it's been dry, but a looming chance of popup storms everyday has made planning when to cut interesting. Once all the hay is baled and put away, a good rain will be more than welcome. Lots of local talk circulating on how thin the hay has been this year.

Before and after photos of one of the fields:

I can't speak for the gay community, but I would think their response might be that one group is still partially being discriminated against while the other has never, or hasn't been in a long time.

I would imagine there are some pretty drunk people in those parades as well. "

It is a very small minority of a group which acts like idiots and has political demands and motives. Just like there is a very small minority of gun owners that bait LE and act like idiots and have political demands and motives.

People seem to forget those parades are not representative of the LGBTXYZ community. "

In fact, I don't think anyone wishes to see anything me and my wife does. Maybe they do but I will not be putting it on display.

As I've said before, I have nothing against gay people and think they should have every right any other citizen has.

This includes legal rights and protections. I do not believe they should have extra protections that other citizens do not have. Justice is supposed to be blind.

I do not think ANYONE, gay or straight, should have to get permission from the government in the form of a marriage license in order to profess their love for each other and to become a legal couple. I am for doing away with government sanctioned marriage licenses totally for everyone.

Marriage should be between two people in love and whatever belief system they have in regards to God. In fact, I am not even against polygamist marriage even though I can only handle one wife. It is none of my or the government's business.

Legal rights to property should be simple contractual law. Want a home together? Both sign the contract. Want a car loan, same thing. Want joint bank account, both names on the account.

Quite simple and it gets the government out of an area that it has no business being in.
Agree with the last part of your post. I don't have a problem with those that don't want to see the stuff that happens at a gay parade, but to act like it's only gays is hard for me to understand. Maybe straight people don't have simulated sex in a parade, but breasts and tacos, sex simulation, etc. are publicly prevalent at Mardi Gras, any place that has a wet t-shirt contest, etc. Ever been to a bar on the beach during spring break? I think it's possible that some of those hetero people are actually having sex in public, they're certainly simulating it. "

Also, FYI, LinkedIn has tutorials and there is a "LinkedIn for Dummies" book that my class instructor says is pretty good. There is also a "LinkedIn Profile Optimization" book in that series I think I will get.

What I am also learning is that even though I generally avoid social media, there are a lot of people reporting that there is effective marketing to be done on FaceBook, Instagram and Twitter. I am just digging into that. "

It will stress one to a point but in no way prepares a person to face a criminal more than willing to kill them.
I hear you, but I think back to combat/emergency training as an aviator in the Navy. The point of realistic stress training of any kind was not to completely simulate the real thing, because you can't do that safely. We used to jokingly call the fantasy of truly simulating every aspect of combat, "practicing bleeding." The idea was to take you halfway there and see what starts to break down as the stress gets heaped on. That gives you clues as to what you need to drill on for the real thing. When we later had people go into real combat, they performed quite well. In fact, many of them said it felt easier than the training, because they just got "in the zone." "

Now, now, where did I say it is OK for ANYONE to have a pass when it comes to public displays of indecency and lewd acts. If you are going to attribute something to me, I would appreciate you showing it.

If not, do what I try to do when I reply to a post

1: Do not assume
2: Do not try to make it seem like a person said one thing when they said another
3: Breathe, think, reply, and be factual, ecspecially if making an accusation against another member

It really does help...that and yoga.

But, do not try to make it look like I said one thing when I never did. Poor way of discussing issues. "

You can't prove a negative outcome (i.e.: you can't prove Martians did not visit Earth a million years ago). BUT, it could be stated that the existing laws likely prevented those kind of people who obey laws from illegally obtaining weapons. Criminals, however, have a bad record of disobeying laws. So it is naive to think laws protect people. Murder is already illegal in all states. "

The guy picked up a large iron grate from the storm drain, raised it over his head and slammed it down on the cement curb several times. A piece of the grate broke off and there were large chunks of broken cement. The LGS owner called the police and they already had a report on the guy. He was screaming and waiving the piece of the grate and chunks of cement at vehicles going down the street. He crossed the street to a vehicle repair shop on the opposite corner.

I went out to check my Corvette and the LGS owner's 4X4 pickup for damage. I could hear the guy screaming, windows breaking in vehicles, and thumps from him hitting the vehicles. Two police vehicles arrived and they got him in handcuffs. He was setting on the curb in handcuffs screaming.

A woman from a business down the street came down and gave the police a satchel. She said he had been beating on bushes in front of their business with the satchel and throwing paperwork out of it. He then threw the satchel in the street. After he left, she retrieved the satchel and paperwork. He had just been released a few minutes earlier from a half-way house after jail time according to the paperwork.
So how many guns did you sell him?

" That's a lot of guns, especially for a felon who would know that he can't possess firearms.

Interesting comment from the LA Times:

Fernandez was booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition and illegally possessing an assault rifle and large-capacity magazines.

He’s free on bond. A call by The Associated Press to his listed phone number rang unanswered Monday.

The Los Angeles Times, citing an unnamed source, reported that the owner of the firearms appears to be a collector as opposed to someone who intends to use the guns for violence.

I wonder who their, "unnamed source" is. Does the LA Times want to make sure that Mr Fernandez appears to be an innocent gun collector? No matter what, the Antis will be very interested and probably very conflicted since the guy's name isn't Josh Hogan or Ian McNeil. "

The rudimentary systems used to monitor the Ho Chi Minh trail were awful (my Dad helped place them... not trying to impugn those who used them, they did they best they could with the technology of the time). We've gone far beyond those rudimentary sensors. CBP employs some pretty high tech sensors along the entire southern border that easily differentiates between humans and animals. The data flow to CBP officers on the ground out making arrests could use improvement, and I won't get into data relay beteen ops centers and field agents for obvious reasons, but monitoring the flow of people isn't done by some guy with his ear to the ground estimating the number of footsteps he hears or simple motion detectors like what people put in their driveways.

If that's the case, what's the point of a wall. If we already know who and how many people cross the border (high end technology you speak of) all we need is communication and more border patrol. We have quite a bit of "wall" up already. "

Two barbed wire fences separated by about 30 feet of land mines should do tje trick.

Perhaps some automatic machine guns every so often.

And lots of actual patrols.

That should be enough incentive to come here legally or not at all.

Finding drugs is something to splash across the tv screen who doesnt want to see all those huge bundles of weed and suitcases full of cash?? Ever see those tv shows just look at the high fives and back slapping when they find all those goodies now look at their faces when they find illegals. People means paperwork lots and lots of paperwork drugs and money is inventory much quicker less fuss and muss. People means transportation, housing, feeding, medical care, attorneys, judges.......drugs and guns means a warehouse. Lately the news is all in on the children and how horrible things are well I live in the area where all this is happening we had all the politicans down here last few days doing their sound bites and when we see it on the news we just roll our eyes. We understand that give them a week to ten days and its back to bussines as usual. I'm for a secure border but I dont think the wall will ever be built, I do hope Trump could get something done but I'm not holding my breath either. "

That said off body carry is a exceedingly bad idea.
One is more likely to arm a purse snatcher than access their weapon from a purse in time to be effective in a true SD scenario.

Arrests mean diddly. Sometimes BP gets lucky and makes alot. Just as often the opposite is true.
They have no credible idea how many crossings there were.
They have to publish something of course I get that. But their numbers are about as credible as the gov number of guns in this nation and how many own them. "

FOF is fun. Everyone ought to do it once.
But it's a game. The instructors are not behaving like real violent criminals because they aren't criminals and don't think like criminals do.

Students know they will not die and no FOF can simulate scenario where death is imminent if one loses.

It will stress one to a point but in no way prepares a person to face a criminal more than willing to kill them. "

After a choice explecitive, he said I'm high stepping this way and you shoot the ____ thing. Luckily is was winter and the snakes weren't movin' very fast. " Interesting video, but I wonder how many people have turned this into a hobby but justify the expense by rationalizing about an exaggerated threat in the world.

Reality is the world isn't falling apart... there have always been dirtbags doing terrible things, and crime rates today are actually pretty decent outside a few pockets of inner city disaster. Maintaining SA and being prepared shouldn't result in exhaustion and self consciousness about having a "head on a swivel ".

Training is good and valuable. And I recommend anyone who hasn't gone through FoF training to go experience it...it will teach you a lot about yourself and improve your skills and confidence. But if you fixate on it and forget to smell the roses in life too then you've probably lost balance and need to remember to live life, not just survive it.

Had some excitement at the LGS today. The owner was working on the computer and looked out the window to see a man on the street corner screaming and waving his arms.

Exactly and many people’s reaction on here shows that they achieved it. The problem is that those who are riled are blaming the gays for shoving it in their face, when I bet that not a single person who took part in the decision to fly the flag was gay.
It would not have happened if the VA or whoever decided to do so did not have pressure from the homosexuals and their agenda to make a perversion look normal. Maybe there is a homosexual in the VA that decided to push the rainbow flag. "

There may be some old laws on the books that don't specifically include gays in their coverage but I guarantee you, if a gay person was discriminated against and sued, they would win in any court, in any state of the country.

My point is, and I've made it several times in this thread, most people don't have an issue with the gay community...the community that goes about it's business working and doing the day to day things that anyone does. BUT no one, heterosexual or gay, should be making an issue of their private sexuality. That includes parades, flags or anything else. It should be no ones business and no one should make it their business to make it my business.

Flying the gay flag at the VA was wrong. Just has running a Playboy bunny flag up the flagpole (in place of the US flag) in celebration of "Heterosexual Awareness Day" would be wrong.
It is easy to say that the LGBT rights issue is resolved when it doesn’t effect you, except what the media wants you to see. When over half the states in the United States do not have a law that protect against discrimination in employment, housing, etc and when states have laws that forbid enforcing non-discrimination, that is far from resolved. There are laws being proposed on both sides every legislative cycle and every election politicians saying that they are going to pass legislation to help perserve traditional marriage. Even if a court would decide in favor, is the issue really resolved if it has to go to court.

The VA chose to fly the flag, just like Obama choosing to light the White House rainbow colors. These aren’t examples of the LGBT shoving their sexuality in your face their examples of politicians trying to divide the country. Just like the media chooses to highlight certain events and not others in order to cause division and anger. It is just ironic how people will see through it in one instance and buy into it in another.

Exactly and many people’s reaction on here shows that they achieved it. The problem is that those who are riled are blaming the gays for shoving it in their face, when I bet that not a single person who took part in the decision to fly the flag was gay. "
