    Fall cleaning

With colder weather beginning to creep in I will spend far less time out on my range and mostly be shooting my carry gun if I am out there, so I spent this morning cleaning 5 pistols and 13 mags up and lightly lubing everything to protect them through the winter until I start shooting heavy again next spring.
Everything was semi clean but my 229 ( that sucker and all 3 mags was scuzzy ) now they are back in top notch shape, did find the follower on the cheap Pro-mag for the P6 is looking pretty rough, I'm going to have to throw that piece of junk away and order a couple of new mags before I carry it again.
Take some time to clean and and inspect your equipment everyone, the lives of you or your loved ones may depend on it without a moments notice.

Y'all all have a blessed day and an enjoyable holiday season over the next couple of months.

I can't remember - do you have to take them out of the holster first . . . ?

I have guns in "storage" and guns "in use." Because I have only two hands, I limit "in use" to two carry pistols, an AR, and a shotgun. All get cleaned after any use at a minimum, so no special preps are required.

I clean my carry guns at least once a month if they don't get fired but do get carried. Besides, I enjoy it.

With the exception of my EDC and our night stand guns, I store all my seldom used HGs & all spare mags in the 7.62 ammo cans with the moisture absorbent packets so my cleaning routine stays somewhat nominal. The seldom fired nightstand guns stay in the safe during the day, so require very little maintenance.

I shoot all my Pistols on a fairly regular basis during warm weather, I will walk through pick one out and go outside to shoot a mag or two, usually I will just wipe it down, run a patch or two through the barrel, reload it and put it back up until the next time I wander by and want to shoot it, that's more than clean enough for something I may shoot again tomorrow or sometime in the next few days, my carry gun gets carried and sweaty daily and sometimes shot 3-4 times a week ( mag here, mag there) it also gets a pretty serious workout most weekends, after which it will get a quick field strip and clean.
Yesterday was just one of those serious tear everything apart and scrub it mornings since I know the crappy weather will keep me inside a lot more,,,, plus it was rainy and I was bored

Other than scoring on all the free meals offered for Veteran's Day, I have nothing on my agenda for tomorrow, so I will strip and clean my S&W 6906. It's time.

I lube the carry pistol every other month. The j frame I don't worry about.
I find supremely ironic that God in his wisdom and grace has given man freedom of choice bounded by 10 simple rules. Man in his finite wisdom has created millions of rules to limit freedom of choice and personal responsibility of man.
