    Perception pescador angler 12.0

I think I got a good deal on this one. Came with a paddle and life vest for sale $399.
No longer have a truck so this will do just fine. Base price on the yak alone is $550. The reviews are excellent but we will see. Supposed to take it down to Christmas bay tommorow but the weather is iffy.. also taking my pelican 35 # 10ft sit in... 4 tide day and was looking good weather wise and we have been dry down here... Figures, as hot as it's been already, the tropics are beginning to get riled up.
    Kayak fishing on a budget!!!

Those are nice yaks IMO! Enjoy them, and don't forget to post some pics of the fish you catch either here or in my fish catch thread.

Will do. Tomorrows trip is up in the air right now. Could go either way. Been a long time since I've been fishing and I'm excited about it.

We carried both on my little Corolla for the first year. Now I throw em on the truck rack because we pull a trailer a lot.

Those black bass are my favorite rock fish. Mmmm. And catching them shallow is a plus.

Since were on a gun forum I should add I carry a 642 in the chest pocket of my PFD when on the kayak. You plan on being armed?

The trip is a go. So we are all loaded up. I have decided to not carry for this trip. Where we are going a good percentage of the bay is shallow flats. It's been really hot down here and I anticipate spending probably as much time in the water as in the yak. My neighbor is going with me and has never been in a kayak before and I sense some apprehension. I haven't been in one since I was a kid but I've always felt right at home either on or in the water. Still am sure this will be a learning experience for both of us. Here's to hoping we come back with more than just fish stories and maybe some pictures.

Well my neighbors new Nick name is flipper. LOL.. although he is the only one that caught any fish. Two too small to keep specks. Wasn't the prettiest thing see him recoved but to his credit he did it. Thought he lost a fishing rod until I got lucky and located the bobber he was using. All my gear floats. Spent 5 1/2 hours on the water and had a great time.. Except I know the fish started biting right after we left. I was in the little 10 foot pelican the entire time. I'm 6'1 230#s. Although the pelican didn't cover ground like the perception, Fishing from it proved doable and for a sub $200 yak and my fat out of shape old butt it was up to the 3-4 mile journey.
Learned a lot. One major thing when you head out head into the wind... We didn't, and heading back against the outgoing tide and wind taught me a valuable lesson. Once we got back to where we put in, even as tired as I was, I decided to take the perception out along with testing my DIY telescoping rod holder mounted video camera mount.. Was a success but I have got a lot to learn as far as making videos.. Took a chance because the JVC camera I have is "not" water proof. But anyway all around good time...

I have a Perception Sport Sound 12.5. Good yak for my needs. Stable enough for fishing but easy to paddle for touring.

S&W M&P 9 Shield in my NRS Chinook PFD pocket and a rapid release NRS Co-pilot fixed-blade knife on the lapel.. ;-)

Had some PVC laying around so today I made some rod holders and got started on a crate set up. Neighbor wants to head out again later in the week. Got my DIY stake out Pole finished too. Rod holders cost me a total of $3.78.
