    Let me count the ways...

Well, here are two; I have others.

The top pistol is a "poor man's Silverback" that I call "Harambe" in honor of "you know who" in the gorilla world.

Here's Harambe's first trip to the range, last weekend. 52 rounds (4 mags) to the head, 39 rounds to the chest, semi-rapid fire from 7 yards.

The Colt don't shoot so hot either:

Almost 50 years of .45ACP carry

.45 ACP has been my gun since the jungles of SE Asia.
for a very short stint I was saddled with a 38 revolver
then it was back to a .45 ACP in the form of a Colt Commander L.W. in a between the belt slide from Galco (I wore out three of these given my obsession for practice and Super Vel ammo.)
then it was a custom cut down Colt Commander LW from Armand Swenson also carried in a belt slide
then it was a Detonics Combat Master also carried in a belt slide
then, very interested in less weight to carry all day, I moved to a Glock 30 when they hit the market
then as soon as they were introduced the carry gun became a Glock 36 because it was easier to hide without a sport coat or jacket still in a belt slide.
last and current is the Springfield Armory XDs also in a belt slide.

I have tried a drawer full of holsters from mostly great makers and nothing conceals better than the now discontinued JAK between the belt slide so now I am down to having it copied by people good in working with leather. It is much faster than IWB holsters which don't work for me as I am not about to buy pants that are too big for me even now that I'm old. My wife likes admiring my backside.

If I am going to open carry, it will always be a full size 1911 like a Springfield Armory Range Officer Elite Operator. Open carry means longer range to me at least.
Never take advice on self defense calibers or tactics from people who have never been in a real gunfight.

My 1911 carry is a full size Colt Series 70 SS in a Bullard Leather IWB holster at 3:30. MY regular EDC is a BHP in the same configuration, but I do carry the 1911 sometimes.
