" Some people can't recognize that there is traffic two seconds ahead of you. They will pass you on the right, cut you off, then proceed to tailgate the person you were following. To retaliate would be no wiser than scolding a dog for not using the toilet like a human would. They just don't know any better. If I feel like giving anyone the finger, it should be myself for joining them in the first place.

I find that driving in the second lane, two to three seconds behind a semi is the least stressful. They are professional drivers usually, and regulate speed well. The best part is they are never missed by the bumper suckers, so being cut off is less frequent. It literally takes something that big for them to measure the speed of traffic. "

She then hung side by side with the other car 5-6 mph below the speed limit. We finally got to an intersection and as the car on the right and before little miss speed monitor could react I was hammer down and gave her a practical demonstration of acceleration. As I passed I looked over and saw her demonstrating her IQ with one finger, I couldn’t help but thinking “Sweetie Pie you’re going to do that to the wrong person and you will NOT like the outcome. "

We lived in Lubbock in the 70's when Reese AFB was still up and running. I have to say that I loved living in Lubbock. I have never met a nicer, friendlier group of people than those that live in Lubbock. They treated the military like rock stars during the time that Viet Nam was still a war (1973) and most places were very anti Viet Nam Vet.

Lubbock has good hospitals, lots of cultural events (thanks to the several Universities that are there) and tons of shopping and restaurants. It's stuck out on the plains but the town is big and has a lot of amenities because it has the benefit of oil money pouring into it.

Of course, that was 40 years ago but from what I gather, it's still thriving and growing.

The only drawback I ever saw was in the spring when an occasional dust storm blew half of New Mexico into town. "

Pickup truck driver arrested following New Hampshire highway collision that left 7 motorcyclists dead

The driver said to be behind the wheel of a pickup truck that collided with seven bikers in New Hampshire on Friday – killing all of them – has been arrested at his home Monday in Massachusetts.

Volodoymyr Zhukovskyy, 23, is now facing seven counts of negligent homicide after being taken into custody this morning in West Springfield, the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office announced.

The crash unfolded at around 6:30 p.m. Friday on U.S. 2, a two-lane highway that passes through the small town just north of Mount Washington. Witnesses described a "devastating" scene as bystanders tried to help the injured amid shattered motorcycles.

Wrong is wrong, there is not "sort of wrong" or degrees of wrong IMO.

People have different tolerances of how much "wrong" they can live with.

I know this is not exactly a "Red Flag" law issue, but similar in the fact that states require people being accused of something be required to turn in weapons before being found guilty.

I agree justifiable and legal but in the example I raise it would infuriate me that the Democrats could block a right (that should be obvious without the new bill) that would allow CC. Justified and legal do not necessarily translate to right.

pose this thought. What if the Texas Congress met to vote on a Constitutional Carry bill and the Democrats left the State to prevent a vote they know they would lose? Would we support the Governor if he again sends out the Rangers and State Troopers to round them up?

Welcome Arthur. I hope you enjoy your visit and be sure to let us know how it goes.

Forgot to mention I lived in Ft. Lupton, CO on the outskirts of Denver and it was probably my least favorite Colorado town that we lived in. We were there when flight 629 was bombed and crashed in 1955. The weather was nice and lots of places to go but I guess what I remember most was getting my clock cleaned in a school yard fight by a kid whose family were migrant workers. He was a bully and I was defending one of my friends. It taught me that not all bullies will run from a fight when you stand up to them and that you better be ready for whatever they throw at you.

I do agree with your assessment of the change in Colorado with the influx of the Californians and it is rather disheartening. We are making a return visit this year (first time in several years) to Creed, CO where we once owned a few acres that we were going to build a cabin on. The migration discouraged us and so we sold. Plan to do a little fishing and revisiting of old haunts. "

I live in West Texas and of course Lubbock is the "Hub City" of that area. I was for 40 years an annual visitor to the Colorado Rockies and before that lived in Eastern Colorado for some of my grade school years. Texas has a beauty that many outsiders have some difficulty appreciating, and West Texas is probably an area that this phenomenon is most challenging. Texas has nothing that will rival the Rockies but there are some hidden attributes that make it attractive, such as very friendly people and West Texas is probably the most Conservative area of the State. As a gun owner and supporter of the 2nd Amendment you would be greatly valued here by the general population and we would love to have you. Lubbock is growing and the general rule is large populations engender the liberal politics of "taking from those who do to give to those that won't do", to capture their vote. There are no guarantees that the area will remain true to its Conservative roots.

Here is a video I really like that encapsulates the beauties of West Texas, both those hidden and the ones that are more obvious. I invite you to try West Texas, it will grow on you.

The owner of a company that employs the truck driver identified as involved in a deadly collision with motorcycles says he can’t reach the driver.

Dartanyan Gasanov is the owner of Westfield Transport of Springfield, Massachusetts. He told The Boston Globe on Saturday that Volodoymyr Zhukovskyy “doesn’t answer the phone calls.”

Authorities say the 23-year-old Zhukovskyy was driving a pickup that collided with a group of 10 motorcycles in rural New Hampshire on Friday. Seven bikers were killed.

New Hampshire Deputy Attorney General Jane Young says Zhukovskyy survived and didn’t need to be hospitalized.

No one has been criminally charged. Gasanov told The Globe he planned to speak with investigators Monday.

Without a quorum, legislation stalls.

This tactic is part of governing any organization, and I think it is a valid tactic. Just one of many tools available to representatives. Sure, it is a tactic only used by a minority, but is only effective if the minority is still large enough to break the quorum. "

And the leftists call such people who want to govern, vote, refuse, protest ... fascists?

They need a new dictionary. Theirs is busted, along with the whole of so-called "Progressive" thought.
We have to be careful here. I remember when the Democrats in Texas fled to Oklahoma to avoid giving the Republicans a quorum so they could vote on a redistricting plan. Texas sent the Texas Rangers to bring them back, so the Reps went to Oklahoma. It is hard to see how either party could get anything done if they failed to hold a needed quorum and this tactic is regularly called upon.

The obvious thought would be for the people to educate themselves on exactly how these two cases differ. I have no hope that at least half the people will educate themselves because they have clearly illustrated their commonsense is below the necessary level required to understand that they are wrong. If that is not true, why do we have this governor in Oregon?

I pose this thought. What if the Texas Congress met to vote on a Constitutional Carry bill and the Democrats left the State to prevent a vote they know they would lose? Would we support the Governor if he again sends out the Rangers and State Troopers to round them up?

https://www.voanews.com/archive/texa...ote-2003-05-15

"On Monday, the Republican-led Texas state legislature was preparing to convene when it suddenly became apparent that virtually all the Democrats in the Texas House were nowhere to be found.

Republicans quickly ordered state troopers and the legendary Texas Rangers to round them up. But the Democrats were one step ahead of the law. They fled to neighboring Oklahoma and set up shop in a hotel.

Democrats left the state to block an attempt by Texas Republicans to redraw the state's U.S. congressional districts. The redistricting plan would change several districts and make it likely that Republicans could win at least four more congressional seats from Democrats in the next election." "

" In January, my wife and I traveled to Albuquerque, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Western Colorado looking at possible retirement options. Our next go around, after my wife's health is back in order, we'll visit Lubbock, TX, Reno, and Northern Arizona. Not all at once this time. Lubbock because we met a couple our age from there while on a Hawaiian cruise a couple of weeks ago who extolled its virtues and Northern Arizona because we weren't aware that there were temperate zones. Finally, Reno because it's supposed to be similar to Denver, but 25 years ago. "

" It seems to me that where the climate is pleasant for most of the year, the bugs are to be found in profusion all of the year.

Where I live we are around 2,000 ft. altitude and have four seasons. It is not exactly possible to describe those seasons, though, other than winter is a lot colder than summer and spring and fall are sort of between the two. Some summers we live in a rain forest and other summers we live in a desert. Same house, same spot on the GPS. And of course we have bugs, but most of the time they are fairly manageable IF you do not leave your windows open at night. No-see-ums fly right through screens! "

Retired, we need to get out of our neighborhood and likely the state because of the rapid Californication here. When I got here in the late '70s, it was an American state. Since then, it has seceded from the Union and we need to spend our remaining years in a place of Freedom and not chains; among adults and not insane clown children. So, Freedom, Americans, low humidity, low bug count, ample places to ride the Harley, and ample places to shoot would be a good place. In other words, a place like here minus the liberal trash.
