" Glad to see these reports of the tally, but no way I'm going to take part in any poll by MSNBC. Just looks like a good way to get spammed and/or harassed. YMMV "

" Went over to the Orange, Texas gun show this morning. No new guns, but I did pick up several goodies!

Got two "Universal" holsters from "The Holster King" at a great price. One leather, one nylon. Looking forward to trying them out with various pistols & revolvers:

Early last year, I got a Kel-Tec SUB2000, and it's a super fun little carbine, but getting a good sight picture with it is tough. So is mounting any kind of optic without interfering with the folding design of the gun. I'd been thinking a low-profile laser was probably the way to go. This morning I found an Osprey Global laser that seems to be just the ticket:

Attachment 25348Attachment 25349

Mounted at the front of the lower rail, it's barely noticeable, and doesn't get in the way at all. I think it's going to be fun!

Finally, I found a box of new production (2018) .38 ACP ammo from Precision Cartridge, for my Colt 1903 Pocket Hammer:

Finding .38 ACP at all is tough. Most of what I do find is either antique (like 80-100 years old) that I don't really want to shoot up (and REALLY expensive), OR it's recent production that's loaded in .38 Super cases. That kinda rubs me the wrong way! This ammo from Precision is loaded in new brass from Graf, with the proper headstamp! So, a great find!

All in all, a great morning at the gun show, without blowing a whole lotta money! "

Kilowatt3 created the thread Gun Show Disappointment.
" Is it just me, or has the quality of gun show offerings gone way down lately, while the prices have jumped?

I know, a lot of folks on here & other gun forums have complained a lot that they never go to shows anymore because they see nothing but overpriced crap, but I have not generally found that to be the case around here - at least until now. Over the last few years, I have found a LOT of good deals on some cool guns and accessories at shows. I've found a couple of 40+ year old revolvers in mint condition at amazingly low prices. A year or so ago I found a Sig 938 NIB for a price lower than I would have believed possible. I'd guess that close to half of my gun buys in the last ten years were at shows. I'm sure that that's partly because I've been more interested in older guns lately, and I'd rather buy them at a show than sight unseen online or something.

Well, I've been to two shows in the last three weeks, and found nothing that I would consider a good deal, let alone a great one. Not on a gun, or ammo, or anything else! Asking price for old beaters that I would expect to be $150-$250 were more like $400-$500, $400 guns were priced at $600-$800, guns that should have been $600 were marked $800-$1k, and so on. Most new guns were priced close to MSRP, or just a little below; certainly more than they can be found online, even allowing for shipping & transfer fees.

I've got a few guns that use some obscure old calibers; .38 ACP, .32-20, .41 Colt, and now .351 WSL. I'm always keeping my eyes open for ammo in these calibers, 'cause you're not going to run to Walmart, Academy, or the LGS for it! Between the two shows, I visited 5-6 vendors who sell rare old hard-to find ammo. Not a single round of any of these calibers to be found at any of them!

Guess I'm just venting a bit, but it was a little frustrating. I don't know that I've ever been to two consecutive gun shows where I walked away with nothing in hand, and all my money still snug in my pocket. [Hmmm, maybe that's not such a bad thing! ]

Anybody else notice this happening just lately? "

Kilowatt3 created the thread Latest Gun Show Find - .22 LR Dan Wesson!.
" Dropped by the Lafayette, LA Gun Show this morning. I had a little "brass in pocket", and sorta thought I might come home with either a Lightweight Commander, a .44 Special GP100, or maybe a .45ACP/LC Redhawk. Instead, I stumbled across a nice ol' Dan Wesson in .22 LR!

Attachment 21880

I'm not even sure I've ever seen a DW .22 in person! The action seems perfect, bore looks good, the finish has only a few very tiny imperfections, and the price was WAY lower than I ever expected to find one! It came with the .22 barrel wrench. I believe it's a Model 15-2, but I'm not really sure. Monson manufacture puts it as pre-1990, but it has a low, 4-digit Serial # that I believe indicates much earlier.

It's fitted with Pachmyr rubber grips, which I'm not sure are original from the factory or not. The finish really caught my eye - so nice I first thought it might have been refinished, but I see no signs of buffing-wear on the roll marks or anything. It's still possible it's a refinish job, but if so, it sure is a good one! In any case, I believe it's a worthy addition to my DW stable.

Looking forward to getting out & doing a little plinking with it! "

Kilowatt3 created the thread Anyone Have a P210?.
" Hi All,

Just wondering if any forum members have a Sig P210? I've long been kind of fascinated by this model, and saw a gently-used one in a LGS yesterday at a big discount off the price of a new one!

Attachment 20736

[Stock photo - not the one I saw]

This is a pistol for which I have absolutely no practical use. I do not participate in any formal competition. It's too big for practical CC, and lacks the capacity of most 9mm CCW's. For HD, I prefer a larger caliber and/or larger capacity. For hunting/varmint control, I use .22LR or .22 Mag for the small stuff, .357 or .40 for the medium stuff, and .44 Mag for the big stuff. No real place for a 9mm.

The P210 just kinda calls out to me, though! The slide-inside-the-frame design is interesting, the fit-n-finish is superb, it has a great feel to it, and well, I just find it a really cool pistol! I've never had a real "target" pistol. FWIW, this is a U.S.-made one.

Anyone have one, or experience with one, and care to share your thoughts? "

Kilowatt3 created the thread P365 #2!.
" Out for a leisurely drive this morning, I stopped into a local grocery/hardware in a neighboring small town, and browsed their gun counter. To my surprise, I saw a P365 at the lowest price I've seen for one yet!

Well, PDF regulars will note I've been singing the praises of my P365 ever since I got it in October. I like it so much, in fact, that I just brought its twin brother home! I don't have many pairs of identical guns, but the P365 is such a sweet little shooter, and a tremendously 'practical' CCW, I couldn't walk away from this one at a sub-$500 price! The fact I just got a nice bonus at work was a contributing factor! Build date was just a couple weeks ago.

If it stops raining between now & Sunday, I'll hopefully offer up a range report! "
