" I went back and read the story a second time. It's possible it's not even true and could just be false news. Two pistols, seven magazines, a cleaning rod and brush, one knife and a video about building your own rifle.
There are so many false claims made. The news guy said it's a story you'll only see on their channel. I can believe that part LOL.

Wish I could zoom in on those Glocks so I can see if the ser# is really gone "

" A long long time ago in a galaxy far far away I was at a girl scout camp with my wife and daughter and my nephew. Daughter and nephew same age, about 11 or 12, memory not so good about ages. Anyway, they had these big platform tents with cots for your sleeping bags, pretty nice. We are sitting around the campfire cooking dogs or marshmallows or something when my daughter screams and comes flying out of the tent like the Devil himself was after her. She said there is a giant spider in the tent. Well my nephew puffs himself all up and said he will go in and take care of said spider. He no more than entered the tent for a second and he came flying out yelling about the giant spider! Well, things are getting pretty exciting to say the least. Our camp out was starting to turn into a "B" rated horror movie. I said calm down, I will go check it out. Well I went in the tent and we had one those flashlights that took one of those big rectangular lantern batteries, it was sitting on end with the lens pointed up. Walking around on the lens was a little bitty spider. When you looked up at the ceiling of the tent the image of the spider was projected on the ceiling, it was very eerie to say the least, it almost made me jump myself, a ten foot spider tends to have that kind of affect upon a person. The next day we canoed across the Mississippi river, but that is a story for another time. "

Oh hell no! Into the tent and zip up good.

Dune Wolf Spider I as told by a ranger the next day.

In NY we have "fishing spiders" and I have had a few startling moments with them . . . like the one spanning the coffee mug I was wanting to use . . . but we have an agreement. They stay outside - I don't shoot. We also get "Parson Spiders" that look like peanuts in tuxedos. Shorter legs but still pretty large.

And, of course, the Golden Garden Spiders that can be pretty fascinating when you walk through a wen and notice your nose against one. "

"It just takes away any traceability of a gun, especially if they are used in a crime," Rosen said.

According to federal law, the individual parts do not equal a firearm. Without the serial numbers, law enforcement said it is nearly impossible to track how many ghost guns are used in crimes.
The thing about tracing a gun in reality only applies to the first or maybe the second buyer. ATF can trace a gun from the manufacturer to the distributer and the retailer, after that there is little chance of tracing it. I have several guns that are about 100 years old; there is no chance of tracing how many hands they have been through in that time. "

" To add to what Dog says above, there is also the Browning 85% 1911 in .22 lr. Very nice looking guns. I had a .380 that I sold a while back when magazines were still scarce and I had feed issues. That was when they first came out. One would hope they have the bugs worked out by now. I also think the .22 lr has been out longer than the .380. They offer a full sized (85% scale) and a compact version that is only 13oz unloaded. Lots of nice looking options.

Anyway, exploring your intent on competition versus carry, recoil, firearms weight, and trigger force, and the ability to tune most of the parameters...

What about the Walther Colt (Umarex) 1911 in .22lr:

https://www.pewpewtactical.com/colt-...er-gun-review/

Maybe too heavy for carry, and I would favor .380 over .22lr for carry (and lets end that discussion with this comment please).

But for competition, I think the safety is ambidextrous. Do you need left-hand mag release? Conceptually, from a competition standpoint, would this be a contender? Seems affordable as an option. "

" Combined response - with many thanks to all:

I just researched the Bobcat. It is not left hand shooter friendly at all, and I think it is way too small for what I want. It would be a good carry gun for a right handed shooter who couldn't shoot anything stronger than .22 though.

I did state in my OP on this thread that I will not buy another revolver for any reason. My S&W L frame 686 went to Magnaport shortly after I bought it well over 20 years ago for a complete action and trigger job. IT IS smooth as butter, or maybe more so. And when I was a lot younger (and weighed more) I actually carried it for well over a year. I can still shoot .38 specials through her because the gun is so heavy the recoil is no more than (maybe less than) shooting my SIG P238's.

I'm not inclined now in my old age to spend an extra close to $200 on a revolver to get that same top performance, but I do love, love, love that 686 even though no way could I carry anything that heavy on my hip (arthritis there too) anymore.

The other revolver I am keeping now requires both trigger fingers to shoot. It's a really nice blued Model 10-5 with pencil barrel. When I got it I could shoot it even one handed with ease but no longer. I'm guessing the trigger pull is around 7 pounds but haven't used my gauge on it lately to say for sure.

I'm looking for another fun range gun in .22 - just to have another one. I can use my S&W M&P .22 compact for competition because I have determined that I can shoot .22 off hand, single hand, for the few shots required in any given course of fire. That makes me extremely happy even though I do not get out every week like I used to do. But it's been almost 2 years since I shot with that weekly group and I'm thrilled to be able to go again even if not every week!

I still don't quite trust the Ruger Mark IV Lite although it is working much better now since Gramps did the magazine overhaul work. I have not tried to shoot her one handed with either hand yet.

I would also buy another small but NOT tiny or super light weight .380 for an alternate carry gun if I could find one. Just under a pound empty seems to work best for me - thus the Glock 42 and the P238's. DA/SA is completely out unless I could find one I could actually shoot that would work for me. I'm about to give up on that idea completely though.

When I do shoot the M&P .22 compact I have either an empty Glock or a SIG in an IWB holster with mags in pocket so I can switch guns mid course of fire if the .22 craps out or a round won't fire and it would take too long to pry it out. This is not official IDPA competition so no rules about the gun you start with is the gun you stay with. If you can carry 4 or 5 of them, "good-on-ya." "

Not a bug - it's a moth caterpillar.

We have hickory trees all around the house and get loads of these guys.

The Io Moth caterpillar is a bad one if you go around barefoot. Happily not common but we get them hereabouts. Very bright green and big. "

All one has to do is look at the history of problems in the Catholic church from about 1940 on and then realize there is now a leftist with sketchy morals in the Papacy who believes that plastic straws and global warming are more important issues than the murder of innocent children to see that sometimes there is a conspiracy and they can be effective.

Dodd, an organizer for the Communist Party, USA and head of the New York Teachers' Union testified to congress that the above happened and also that they were successful in getting party members in key positions in Congressional offices and presidential advisory groups.

Here is a link to wiki's page on Bella Dodd. I'm sure it's been gentrified and cleaned of the worst ugly truths.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bella_Dodd

I think Bella Dodd was both an avid Communist and later a convert to Catholic believer. She did indeed say that the communists had infiltrated the Catholic Church and in her book "School of Darkness" details her road to her salvation.

Here is an excerpt from Chapter 16 of her book that is on the internet, an excellent rebuttal to the to the Communist myth of being the party of the poor working class.

https://churchmousec.wordpress.com/2...ss-chapter-16/
"There had been many things I had not really understood. I had regarded the Communist Party as a poor man’s party, and thought the presence of certain men of wealth within it accidental. I now saw this was no accident. I regarded the Party as a monolithic organization with the leadership in the National Committee and the National Board. Now I saw this was only a facade placed there by the movement to create the illusion of the poor man’s party; it was in reality a device to control the “common man” they so raucously championed." "

" This year it seems that I've seen more really strange bugs that I've never seen before, thankfully usually only one new kind at a time. Today, out on the porch, I saw what looked like a fluffy white feather that at first glance looked like it might have been trapped in a small spider web. (Yes, the spiders have been hyper active lately around here!) Our siding is board and batten, hung horizontally, making 1" high little shelves everywhere. That's where this thing was: On/in one of those 1" spaces.

I watched it for a while. The joys of being retired! And it moved. A lot. It moved in ways that a feather cannot move. So inside I came to look it up. I didn't find out exactly what it was because almost all feather-looking bugs I could find on line seemed to be very tiny. This one was slightly over an inch long and very fluffy. But what I did find out was that there ARE feather-looking bugs that are dangerous, some of which can release those individual white filaments and almost shoot them like porcupine quills. They are hard or almost impossible to get out of your skin because they have tiny barbs on the end.

SO back outside I went, with can of wasp spray in hand. He is dead now, and filaments seem to have disappeared leaving a long thin bug body, at least from what I can see without climbing on a step ladder.

Why did I put this here? To let you know that if you see a "feather bug" of any size, do not touch. Get some good strong bug spray and 'off' the thing, or things!

Have a good day, y'all. "

The election is about 45 days away and if the Democrats take over the House again, it won't matter what Sessions has found because nothing will ever be pursued in a Special Investigation. As we've seen, only investigations based on a false narrative ever see the light of day when Democrats are involved.
From what I can tell they (qanons) think it will come about at least by October but there are events which happen that seem to delay these exposures. For instance the tweet by Trump this morning which details reservations by two allies (members of the 5 Eyes Alliance UK, Aus, Can, NZ and US) of declassifying some of the documents. Q suggest that the two are Aus and UK because I guess they will be outed as as conspirators in the Steele dossier. I am not sure about that but Trump indicates a delay while IG looks at their concerns, but in the same tweet indicates he may declassify anyway. I think they know that if these facts about all of the sleaze in the Obama administration are revealed it will cause an immediate backlash of the far left---Antifa, BLM and other Soros sponsored groups---and cause mass riots within the large cities.

All of this from an "amateur" Q follower who doesn't "know" a darn thing. "

Yes, the firing pin safety plunger spring and also the firing pin (striker) spring. Those did bring my original Skinny Minnie down to 5 pounds from between 7 and 8 pounds. I agree. Destroying a man personally is the way to go. They know that even if the accusation is false, the cloud remains. Kinda like the old story of the reporter asking a guy if he beats his wife. Almost no way out. Fortunately there are others working to help Kavanaugh. What was it before this? Oh yeah, Rowe vs Wade. "

" Just an observation as I'm sitting here reading all the comments and watching the news.

My faith in this country is shaken to the core. Actually, it was shaken when Barack Obama was elected because of his background and who he aligned himself with; but this goes way deeper than any one President.

I see some of our major organizations such as the Justice Dept. and FBI as so corrupted by those at top that I wonder if it's possible to "drain the swamp"?

Maybe it's always been this way and none of us knew how deep it went and how powerful the swamp is.

What does The Swamp have on Sessions that has made him completely impotent? It must be something pretty bad, otherwise he would be doing something about the abuse of power that Mueller's team and the Clinton's have exhibited where the "Russian Collusion" investigation is concerned.

Can our country recover from this?

Just some random thoughts...carry on. "

This is and has been a leftist plan of infiltration and decay started by the USSR.

Look at Stalin's plan, carried out by Bella Dodd to infiltrate the Catholic church with 1100-1200 communist party members that were capable of pretending piousness and rising to power within the church to weaken the organization and destroy it from within.

Chaffetz jumped ship IMO. He knew it was sinking. I suspect this is why so many republicans are not running for another term... As far as the cabal. There is a group within our government called the senior executive service... That most are unaware of. Many in our government are members. From Congress to the Judicial branch and beyond. You can find them listed on an official gov site. Careful, it's a rabbit hole. Probably a big part of what Chaffetz is talking about when he says "the deep state is far worse then people think it is"

The "gang" of 8. Which definition of gang do you think applies?

gang (găng)►

n.
A group of criminals or hoodlums who band together for mutual protection and profit.
n.
A group of adolescents who band together, especially a group of delinquents.
n.
Informal A group of people who associate regularly on a social basis: The whole gang from the office went to a clambake. "

A couple of times a week I hit this guy's site: https://www.anonymousconservative.com/blog/

He's a conspiracy theorist of the "secret organization running things behind the scenes" type. My problem with conspiracy theories in general is that most people can't keep a secret. Like the old Russian saying, "Three can keep a secret, if two of them are dead."

Anyway, he postulates a secret group he calls "Cabal" runs things. What makes him interesting is that he has a *tremendous* collection of links to new stories that support his theory. Yeah, there's enough crazy in the news to support almost any theory, but it's interesting anyway.

What you said... that's the kind of actions he feels directly show Cabal at work.

I admit, his theory is attractive. You can only attribute enough stuff to "dem folks be crazy" before you start wondering why so *many* of them are both crazy and holding public offices... "

First it is good to see you again Hammer.
Oh, what can I say? Milking a cow? Well I guess I can try to explain.
Normally it doesn't do a lot of good to milk a cow, no milk.
A cow produces milk to feed her babies, the calf.
So in order for a cow to give milk she must have a calf first.

So now the next question, the million dollar one, so to say.
Why in the world would that idiot throw a comment about milking a cow in this thread?

Well now I will try to explain.

It seems the Left, the commies, Democrats, whatever you want to call them rarely do or say anything without a purpose.
Yeh, they have their kooks, God bless their souls, like Mad Maxine that plunge off the deep end and that guy that said Guam is going to tip over.
But for the most part they are calculating and are always working toward their end goal.

We all know the Democrats want to totally disarm us.
When there is a school shooting they know that emotions are high and they "milk" the emotions for all they are worth.
The judge thing, the democrats have never had a problem with this guy before.
You can't really call him a conservative or a liberal, he is more of a moderate, he has ruled both ways.
They don't want him because he is balanced and may rule against them unlike Ruth Buzzy Ginsberg who they can depend on.

So all of a sudden this Ford gal crawls out from under a rock and makes a lot of noise how she was assaulted by this guy.
So why now? Well, you might say "The cow is fat with calf" the time is ripe.
and the Dems are desperate.
So the claim, real or imagined, the Democrats know how to "milk" a situation for all that it is worth.
This is why they never make much noise about all the shootings in Chicago, they know those shootings can be linked directly to their own policies.
They really don't have a problem with the shootings so you don't hear much about them unless a conservative points them out, then they try to blame it on Indiana or something.
That is why the Democrats don't milk that cow, no milk, nothing to gain.

I probably did a bad job of explaining, but I tried. Seems logical in my mind anyway. "

ShooterGranny created the thread The Glock 42 with the 9 pound trigger.
" I guess I need to vent......this started out to be a short thread about my two Glock 42's, but turned into a saga. My apologies in advance and thanks for sticking it through if you do choose to read it all.

OK, it is my fault for seeing a gun and buying it. But I loved my G42 (Skinny Minnie) so much, and when I saw a barely used at all twin sister for her on consignment at our lgs I grabbed it. She became MinnieToo.

Glock 42 and 43 models are sort of infamous for having stiff triggers (not all of them but enough that it is a well known problem). But this is NOT New York, and a 9.5 pound trigger is beyond ridiculous! I used my trigger gauge time after time trying to see if I was pulling too hard or what. Nope. NO WONDER I felt like my finger was going to fall off the last time I took MinnieToo to the range!

So I got on line and started searching. On the Glock forums one man wrote a very detailed explanation of exactly which parts people usually change and then explanined which parts make any difference and which are wasting your money. SO, I sent the link to Gramps to read and he ordered the two springs from Wolf that will do any good if anything will, keeping the cost to a few bucks instead of buying a terrifically expensive new something or other.

Yesterday the springs came in and he changed the two springs on MinnieToo. They made a difference, but only brought the pull down to 7 pounds and that is still too heavy for my "good" hand which is better than my trashed hand but not all that great either. Then he thought perhaps he had neglected to do the 25 cent trigger job that he has almost automatically done on all of our Glocks, so back upstairs she went. Nope. Still a firm 7 pounds no matter how many times I pull that gauge or at what angle! At least the trigger feels smoother with the 25 cent job.

Skinny Minnie got her new set of springs today and I am very happy to say that she now has a 5 pound trigger pull, down from the 7.5 pounds she tested at the other day before the springs were ordered.

Gramps does not like the 42's even a little bit because they are too small for his hands and don't feel "like a real Glock".....or like a real SIG P320 either.

I don't know what else to try. I might have to wind up trading MinnieToo in for something else. But my problem is that there is nothing else that I think will be a good gun for me to use in either .380 or .22lr.

I tried my friends SR22 and that Loooooong DA trigger pull turned me off completely. I had also tried out an SR22 a couple years ago on a try before you buy thing at our local indoor range. I didn't like it one bit then either.

I have my Mark IV Lite which seems to be working OK now after Gramps did the major overhaul stuff to all 5 of the factory magazines. Found that helpful information on the Ruger forums. And I have the S&W .22 compact which is a joy to shoot - especially now that it is back from the factory with the rear sight fixed (I HOPE!).

And I have SkinnyMinnie which was my very first small gun and which I have a special place in my heart for, plus two P238's that don't shoot quite as accurately for me but are a total joy to shoot in every way, except the 3/4" difference in group size on the target from the Glock. OOPS, almost forgot Zelda, the new Shield EZ .380, which I am trying to learn to like a lot. So far she's OK, but that's it.

I almost wish I had that Bersa BP380cc back that I traded for the Shield EZ because it was a great shooter with a super light trigger and pretty accurate and would eat absolutely anything you fed her. But Gramps hated, hated, hated the horrendous effort it took to take her apart every time I wanted to clean her and NO way could I do that myself. Heck, I couldn't even rack the slide without using a handi racker, so it was time to let go of her.

YES I HAVE MY TWO REVOLVERS and will not part with either of them - at least not in the foreseeable future. I also will NOT for any reason buy another revolver. That Ruger LCR .22lr with the almost 18 pound trigger that I had for a little while was the biggest turn off I've had for a very long time! Even after around 1,500 rounds and dry fires it was still a nasty beast.

I have tried out several other guns over the past couple of years and there has not been one that felt right to hold or had low enough recoil for my damaged hands - other than the ones I now own. There are several DA/SA pistols that a lot of people recommend, but again, i simply can't do those super hard initial pull things.

I said something to Gramps about maybe I should get another SIG and he about lost it. OK, I know I don't need three of the same gun, but they have so many neat looking models that they "don't look like the same gun....."

OK. Rant over, I guess. "
