Military bases, NYC on high alert over fears of terror attack from missing Saudis involved in Pensacola naval base shooting

Military bases across America have been put on high alert, and there are now concerns that missing Saudi nationals could pose a terror threat to New York City or other parts of America.

This, after Friday’s mass shooting at the Pensacola Navy Station.

An advisory was sent out Saturday night by US Northern Command, also known as NORTHCOM.

It called for an increase in security checks, and comes as the FBI continues to hunt for several Saudi military students from Pensacola.

They seem to have vanished in the wake of Friday’s attack.

The sun will come up tomorrow and most of us will still be making CO2. The world did not collapse when this happened to Clinton. Nothing has changed in the last 6 months except for rhetoric on both sides.

The entire political structure of the US is a wreck and corrupt.

I personally believe there is really no one in the US Gubermint that is ethical, moral, and really cares about us. (Yes, this includes BST, all of the House and all of the Senate).

My disdain for politics and politicians (BST, the House and Senate included) has had reached a breaking point months ago. "

Another member here said it would be OK for Republicans to mirror illegal activities by the Democrats to level the playing ground...and gots lots of Likes for that

And people WONDER why I will not vote for any person for POTUS this year? Why? The Dems might or not be involved in illegal activities and we have forever Trumpers advocating that Trump and his supporters and Republicans to do the same thing to "make it fair"

I love this country. But I am not voting for anyone or party that has supporters that think it is OK to break the law, even if it is to "level the playing field"

We have become a third world nation as far as politics.

I might just vote for Bloomberg for fun LOL. Don't get worried: TX is going for Trump so my vote would not affect anything. I just need to have a little fun though

Such a statement is as close as one can come to fascism w/o the actual kicking down of doors and dragging patriots away in the dark of night.

So many are accused of the tin hat syndrome. Really? After reading Nadler's words?

Are the dems really wanting to rush head long toward civil war?

Same thing for the Dems. They would never find Obama guilty of anything if the shoe was on the other foot.

What type of battery you use with it.

2S batteries are 7.4 Volts.
3S are 11.4
4S are 14.8.

Each cell is nominally 3.7 Volts.

I have a UMX TImber that has a 2S battery and that is what the ESC is rated for. If I put in a 4S it would set the thing on fire LOL

BTW: the "S" in 3S, 4S, ect. stands for "in series". That means the cells are in series. "

" You say there was no security or screening. I would imagine that there was some screening since they had to come here with the permission of the US gubermint. Security at the post would be the same for all that live, work or train there.

As far a metal detectors: NO WAAAAYYYYYY. The point is people should be allowed to carry on base. Period. And because carrying a concelaed weapon is a personal choice, there should be no screening.

BTW: Getting a gun on post is not very difficult. My gosh, you think they need to stop every person in every car coming and going and have them go through a metal detector? Do you think they need to go through a metal detector in every building?

I mean seriously, what on earth is your security plan?

I went to several military schools with foreign national soldiers going through the same courses. They are not kept in a secure compound. They are treated like any other person going through that training? In jump school we had a Polish Lt, several Saudi's, a few from Africa (can't remember what nation).

Do YOU know if there was NO screening? Or do you think they just showed up at the gate and signed up for a class LOL

ETA:

Whenever something bad happens, this is usually a security failure of some sort. Then again, it is not hard for an active duty serviceman to go bonkers and take a gun post without permission and kill people to. "

Anyway, it cost about 40 bucks (I had some of the stuff anyway). A Triple out put power supply can cost at least 300 bucks. This is three variable outputs (voltage and amps with overload cuttoffs). It has one other variable output and a fixed 5VDC output with USB connector.

Got news for you: what you are telling me is not a secret, nor has it ever been. One never has to have been in LE to know that. Sorry to burst the buuble, but that secret society is not, and has not been a very good secret.

Everyone I knew growing up knew LE did not go after LE and let things slide. Old news..let us carry on to the modern era

You have been watching the news the last few years right? Tons of LEO's are getting arrested by LEO's and being prosecuted around the country. Do things slide and LE looks the other way sometimes? Of course. No different than any other profession.

Just in San Antonio alone, there have been at least 30 officers (PD, Sheriffs, and others) that have been arrested and have had repercussions because of false statements, drunk driving, domestic abuse. I used 30 as a low number since they seem to be in the news every week.

The only difference is if you are on the inside, you know which ones are not prosecuted. But is is not, and never has been a secret, that there has been favoritism. "

" Two teenagers killed by mother's boyfriend after argument over cigarette smoke escalates, police say

I can see lots of room for dark humor here. Seriously, this is sad that the two kids died. Some highlites:

The boyfriend (shooter) moved in just 2 weeks ago. And this is the second suicide in house in three years. I can definitly see some rabid anti-2A folks chewing at the bits with this one.

The argument began after Della Jette grew upset by Ferguson smoking in the house, Watertown Police detective and spokesman Mark Conway told CNN. Ferguson then retrieved a handgun from his bedroom and shot Sterling Jette -- who had attempted to intervene -- in the leg,
"The mother went downstairs to call 911 when she heard a second gunshot, presumably when he shot the daughter on the deck," Gavallas said. "He came back in the house and shot the son in the chest."
This is not the first tragedy to occur at the Connecticut home, police said.
Police responded to the home three years ago when Danielle Jette's husband and Della and Sterling's father, Sterling Jette Sr., fatally shot himself after a minor domestic dispute, Conway said.

Actually, I thought the whole issue is (at least IMO) is Trump investigating the Bidens for political reasons. That is really the point. Let us suppose they are guilty of wrong doing...what was Trump's motive?

I do believe he wants them investigated for his own political advantage.

" OK..we can have an entire section dedicated to photography to answer some of the OP's questions.

This is my take and personal experience

In "general" you want the most pixels possible. The new Rebel has 24.1 Megapixels. The more megapixels the better. It gives you better resolution and when you blow up an image it retains more of it quality.

Not all CCD sensors are equal

I would definitely go for wifi or Bluetooth transfer option if available. It is easier than taking out the SD card or hooking it up to your computer. Only good IMO for doing small file transfers though (total download size I mean)

You do want to make sure the LCD screen on the back is sunlight-viewable!!!! It is hard to see what your image looks like after you took it if it has really bad backlighting or not viewable in the sun. "

1) Congress impeaches Trump
2) Senate will NOT indict (to tell ya the truth, he could murder someone and they would not indict LOL)
3) Trump wins in 2020. Possible scenarios: Wins moderately with electoral college but very close in actual votes (my best guess). Trump wins very closely only if Bloomberg is the candidate. Trump wins easily if anyone other than Bloomberg is against him
4) Dems jump from 8-foot bridges so they can still live and get free health care and seek lifetime benefits from emotional distress

I had a few different school camera's to choose from back in those days as well as my own Pentax K1000 35mm Camera.

I actually liked my Pentax the best because it was manual and you set it the way you needed to in order to get the result you wanted. You could use different ISO films and various filters to get even better results. I had a wide angle, a "normal" lens, and a decent 300mm telephoto lens to work with.

I developed my own black and white films as well as printing them.

We sent color out to a local developing lab that gave us the shots in the sizes we requested.

I have not taken any pictures with that old Pentax in years. I have been using various digital camera's that were, well, boring. They don't take great pictures IMHO and I want something better.

I want to get back in to taking pictures as I always enjoyed it. I want to take my camera with me on my motorcycle rides and get some great shots that my phone camera just cannot do justice to.

I have been looking at some of the current crop of Digital SLR camera's and am trying to get up to speed on all the functions they have.

I do not know what I need on these new camera's as I am used to choosing focal length, exposure, and other settings on my own. I really never liked automatic settings as they tended to not produce results that "pop", well, at least it was that way on the "old" camera's.

If anyone on here has any pointers or things to look for or things to avoid, I would be grateful for the advice.
I currently have a Canon Rebel T5. I am happy with it. I researched lots of cameras a couple of years ago and my experience was that pretty much any new middle of the road DSLR will have more than enough features than I would ever use.

You can still go to full manual or use preset modes. For example: A is fully automatic. P is similar to A but you have a few controls.

Av is aperture priority. The camera selects the shutter speed based of the aperture setting you selected and the available light. Think: depth of field.

Tv is shutter priority. You select the shutter speed and the camera selects the aperture.

And then there is M. Manual mode you select your aperture and shutter speed.

All of these modes are easily accesed on the dial on top of the camera.

On a side note: If you were ever interested in a GoPro but don't want to spend the money on one, you can look at Akaso's. I have an Akaso V50 elite which is about 75 percent less expensive than a GoPRo 8 and it has about 90 percent of the GoPRo's capabilities. "

I view President Trump as an outsider that is fed up with politicians using our government and our money to become rich while letting our country suffer.

President Trump understands that We the People are getting a bad deal. As a master of the deal, he cannot tolerate that.

President Trump, as well as many American's, understands that when America is doing well, EVERYONE is better off. Instead of manipulating everything pretending to help the poor or whoever, President Trump knows that if the economy of the country is doing well, everyone can benefit.

President Trump has figured out how the Politicians have been using Foreign Aid to funnel money back to their own family members for quite some time. This has occurred on both sides of the isle, D's and R's. He is trying to bring light to this and this is a huge reason they wish to impeach him. The investigation in to Biden would reveal far more than just Biden.

But, you keep listening to the "Trump a bad man" press and use your vote to elect another do nothing politician that placates the deep state and allows the $tatus quo.
Nope, I said I will not vote. Have you not been reading my posts?

You mentioned about auditors. They are concentrating on tax laws and business law. I think folks want to see Trumps returns to see if he did anything that could compromise him about holdings he has in certain countries and what real separation he has with his holdings now that he is POTUS. The returns prior to his election is what is important for many people.

A statement from Grace's ex-partner given to police revealed he and the 22-year-old university graduate from Essex used a system of safe words and signals to make sure she was never in danger during the BDSM sessions.
For those into that kind of stuff..one should think of a better plan.

Off-duty Texas cop shoots son after mistaking him for intruder, police say

An off-duty Texas police officer shot his own son on Saturday night after he mistook him for an intruder, authorities said.
"It was a mistake. He thought that there might have been an intruder in the house. He didn't know who was supposed to be there and so forth," Schulte said. "It was a startling situation, it was an accident."

The spokesman said the shooting happened in the garage area of the property. He said the officer got home and noticed "the house was not in the state that he had left it" — the garage door was open, and "some doors were locked that weren't locked" when he left earlier in the day.
\

I do find this part amusing:

Authorities, the spokesperson said, want people to know "that if you come home and something doesn't feel right, [it] doesn't bother us at all, go ahead and call 911, so we can come out and check it out ."
So you guys can come out and shoot him LOL...TX cops do not have a good track record this year for identifying targets and/or assessing the threat "

BST can disagree with FOX, can disagree with a poll, and of course comment on it and point out things he thinks is wrong. But there is a fundamental problem when the POTUS implies that a news service needs to "deliver" for whomever. "

Siam created the thread RC Plane almost ready for flight.

The chord is 7 Inches and the chord with ailerons is 9. The length is 28 inches and the wingspan is 30. Made out of foam and packing tape. The landing was made from scrap aluminum stock I had. Steerable tail wheel.

Control horns made out of old credit and debit cards and control rods from steel wire I straightened.

Weight is 830 grams (almost 2lbs).

It has a six channel receiver and I am putting a camera on it as well.

Basically it costs me 7 bucks out of pocket It is not the prettiest thing but hopefully it flys well. I did some taxiing test with it today and it is dead on straight.

I just need to attach the wing, cover up the wing tips, and make sure the CG is good. Under the nose I will have a sticker that says "1MGG"

OMG, what is going on in TX lately Must be the heat.

Houston police say a group of customers walked into a Popeyes Chicken restaurant Monday night and asked for some sandwiches. But the restaurant chain is all sold out -- news the foursome didn't want to hear.
The group -- two men and two women -- grew angry, and that's when one man pulled out a gun, police said.
The employees ran to the back of the restaurant and the group, who police estimated range in age from 17 to 20 years old, ran out of the restaurant. They jumped into an older model SUV with a woman in the driver seat.
But they weren't finished -- the group pulled through the drive-through lane and threw an empty can through its window.

Trial of alleged 9/11 mastermind, four others set for early 2021

Khalid Sheikh Mohammad, the alleged mastermind of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, will stand trial with four other men on war crimes charges at the U.S. military base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba beginning in early 2021, a military judge said Friday.

Air Force Col. W. Shane Cohen set a start date of Jan. 11, 2021, in an order setting motion and evidentiary deadlines. He did so in a case that has been bogged down in pretrial litigation, noting that the trial "will face a host of administrative and logistics challenges."
Mohammad and his co-defendants are charged with crimes including terrorism, hijacking and 2,976 counts of murder for their alleged roles planning and providing logistical support to the Sept. 11 plot. They could get the death penalty if convicted at the military commission, which combines elements of civilian and military law.
Please, they are going to die of old age before that ever happens with our "just" criminal system. "

Siam created the thread Lovin my new DJI Mavic Air Drone!.
" I have had drones before. Nothing fancy. Simple things that were under 150 bucks. A couple of months ago I decided to spend the money on a more sophisticated drone with cool photography abilities. My wife and I travel a lot and we wanted to be able to take cooler images than a regular camera or cell phone.

I unpacked it last month but never really had the time to play with it. I was using it yesterday and this morning and it is awesome! Not for everyone of course. The capabilities are really cool. You can use hand gestures to "frame" your image. You can have it follow you (like if you are hiking, running, horseback riding). And tons of other features.

I actually almost lost track of it this morning as I was flying it down a stream and when I turned it around (I thought I did a 180, I did about a 135) I ended going up another bifurcation in the stream Long story short, I was about to hit the "Return Home" button but realized I had the real-time map on the display. So I was able to fly it back home.

One thing the gubermint did recently was actually a bonus for drone operators. If you fly in class A,B,C,D,E airspace you had to file for approval. I hardly thought anyone bothered. THey either did not fly or flew illegally.

Through and app, you can get real-time authorization from the FAA. It takes like 10 seconds. So if a LEO stops you, you can say that you do have FAA approval. You still need to make sure you are in compliance with local laws though. "

Siam created the thread Steelers legend Rocky Bleier returns to Vietnam 50 years after being wounded in battle.
" ESPN is airing a documentary about Rocky Bleier later this month. This is a short story about his return to Vietnam. A little bias here for me since I have always been a Steelers. Mr Bleier has always been a person I have admired, as a player, American, soldier, and role model. I read his book a long time ago. I might just have to dust it off again.

For those that don't know who he is, Rocky Bleier got drafted by the military in his rookie year with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He got wounded and was not expected to play football again. He fought back and became a football legend. If you can find the movie, based off of his book, it is pretty good. " Fighting Back: The Rocky Bleier Story"

The emotion he has when visiting the same field he got wounded cannot really express or be understood unless you have lived it. I have no idea what I would do if I visited a place in Afghanistan 50 years from now to relive something. That is tongue n cheek, I know exactly what I would do..sniffle and be emotional I think anyone that has served and saw fellow soldiers die or get wounded would do the same. Bless all of our vets and military still serving.

Siam created the thread Wisconsin police say they found a fugitive hiding in a solar-powered bunker in the woods.

Wisconsin police say they found a fugitive hiding in a solar-powered bunker in the woods

This is not about that the guy is a dirtbag. But he was able to live on his own in the woods for three years. Just an interesting read.

1: He used solar panels for three years to power his stuff
2: He scavanged for food and things he needed from a landfill

Over the course of three years, Button told police, he made daily and nightly trips to the Ringle landfill on a bicycle for things like clothes, food, tools, equipment and electronics. The bunker grew cluttered, which forced him to make the cave even deeper.
Button told police that he had solar power to run his TV, radio, fans and lights. He made a generator with a bicycle that he would pedal if he needed an additional power source.
"Button had explained he could find just about anything in the landfill," Deiler wrote in his report.
In the colder months, Button kept warm with a fire pit.
For water, he told police that he created a well system by digging a hole in a wet part of the woods and lining it with sand and charcoal. He'd boil the water before using it.
Button told police he had multiple ways to get in and out of his bunker so nearby hikers wouldn't spot him. If he did see people out hiking or hunting, he would make "small talk with them about a nice day to be on a hike, and continued on his way."

" From a former disbeliever: Why Texas could go blue in 2020

I am here to tell ya that it is more than just about guns and gun violence and healthcare that will turn the great state of Texas Blue. Until we get a Republican or other candidate to stop messing with our heads, then I will not vote and nor will some others I know. If Ghost was in Texas that would be another vote lost to the Republicans next election as well.

Point is that "Bump Stock" Trump needs to stop playing both sides and cherish the 2A as we do. I know of at least 30 people in my area and running club that will not vote for BST again since he let us down the first time.

And yes, blame me and those like me if the state goes Blue. But do not forget the reason why. I was taught to not to lie and deceive people. I can't vote for anyone that does, even if the lessor of two evils.

Losing Texas, if it does happen, will be a big blow to BST's relection campaign, not to mention what i does in Congress if the seats switch. "

Female Runner Tackles Alleged Flasher on Massachusetts Running Path

Massachusetts State Police are on the lookout for a man who reportedly flashed a woman while she was jogging on a public trail.

“It was not his lucky day, because I just decided it was not going to happen,” the woman, who said she was a former member of the Israeli military, told the local ABC affiliate afterward. “I decided to chase him down.”

Police say that the woman was able to tackle the suspect to ground. She asked passersby for help, but no one stepped forward.
So many things to say about this one.

1: Chasing down a flasher might not be the wisest choice one can make. I am not saying to not try it. Just thinking of all the possibilities that could go wrong. The ole risk vs gain thing.

2: My MIL said "she was in the the Isreali Army so she is well trained. She might or might not be. She could have been a supply sergeant. It still does not negate #1 above. She was unarmed. This guy could have been armed.

3: The passerby's should be put in jail for not stopping and helping. I jest of course. But they are a pitiful lot of souls.

4: Why would anyone live in MA anyway "

" I went for a normal 6-8 mile run this morning but decided to take a totally different route. I missed a turn and it was dark so I did not see the street signs. I went under I-35 which I did not realize which led me to turn right instead of left when I should have. So I ran 3 miles in the opposite direction for awhile and had to go back

I ended up doing 16 miles and after I looked at my results on Strava I found out I am now the leader on three segments on Strava LOL.

Nike cancels shoe featuring early version of American flag

Nike has chosen not to release the Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July as it featured an old version of the American flag," Nike said in a statement to CNN Business.
The Wall Street Journal reported earlier that the athletic-wear company delivered the sneakers to retailers, but asked stores to return them to Nike after the company received a complaint from former NFL star Colin Kaepernick. The Journal indicated Kaepernick said he and others found the shoe offensive.

Siam created the thread My wife got me an Atari flashback box that plays 120 of the old games :).
" This thing is great!!!! 120 games come preloaded. It looks like the original Atari box. I have been playing Frogger and Spaced Invaders all morning. Might try out Centipede and the original Pong and the original Breakout game.

She also got me a Sega Genisis flashback box as well. I am dying to play Sonic the Hedgehog again!

I have not hooked it up yet.

Playing Frogger on a 70 inch curved screen is awesome!

She’s 103 and Just Ran the 100-Meter Dash. Her Life Advice? ‘Look for Magic Moments’

Two years ago, at the age of 101, Julia Hawkins set a record. A running record.

She ran the 100-meter dash, finishing with a time of 39.62 seconds. They called her the “Hurricane.”

This week, at the age of 103, Ms. Hawkins returned to the track to run the 50- and 100-meter dash races in the National Senior Games in Albuquerque. She is believed to be the oldest woman to formally compete on an American track, according to the organization,

Siam created the thread Florida woman arrested after turning in estranged husband's gun a day after he tried to run her over.
" Well, all I can say is this:

1. One should not have guns taken from them by anyone (wife, gubermint) until they are convicted of something and serving time in jail. Being accused of domestic assault and not yet convicted, means no one should be taking your stuff. Guy might be a dirt bag, who knows. We need to let the courts figure it out.

2. IMO she should be thrown in jail from the information in the article. She broke into his house/apartment.

Florida woman arrested after turning in estranged husband's gun a day after he tried to run her over

A Florida woman was reportedly arrested after taking firearms from her estranged husband’s home to turn in to police, a day after he allegedly tried to run over her.

Courtney Irby, 32, was arrested last Saturday and charged with one count of armed burglary after an arrest affidavit said she showed up to the Lakeland Police Department station with guns belonging to her husband, Joseph Irby, just one day after he was arrested on a domestic battery charge, WKMG reported.

According to police, Irby admitted to entering her husband’s apartment without permission and taking the guns to the station over fears he “wasn’t going to turn them in” himself.

Siam created the thread How many years in jail would Batman get under New York law?.
" This could have gone into the Law Enforcement sub-forum but I thought Off Topic and humor would be best. The guy that does these videos is hillarious. He has done videos on things like how much money in lawsuits would Willy Wonka need to pay in Civil Damages and how many years in jail how would serve for crimes committed in "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory". He did an analysis of how accurate "My Cousin Vinny" is vis a vis courtroom accuracy. He also did one for the Star Trek Next Generation episode "Measure of a Man".

In this video he uses New York law (since Gotham City is really kinda like NYC) to explain how many years in jail the Joker and Batman would get. Not counting the hacking charges, Batman would get almost 200 years in jail.

Siam created the thread We had to cut our trip to Houston short: AC went out in our house.
" First, thanks to all with the recommendations on where to eat in Houston. Unfortunately, we had to cut our vacation short. I can monitor our home while we are away and our AC went out. We have two cats in the house and a person that was going to check on them every couple of days.

Anyway, we ended up driving back last night.

I know lots of folks do not like the idea of having anything tied to the internet, but sometimes it is a good thing. Knowing if your AC is out in the summer or if the heating goes out in the winter is an important thing.

Anyway, we did make it to the Space Center in Houston (worth the trip), the Aquarium in Houston (was a waste of time and money), and ate at the Lighthouse Buffet at Kemah Boardwalk (AWESOME buffet!!!!) We also got to see the Museum of Fine Arts nd they had a Van Gogh exhibit which was really cool. The Museum of Natural Science was a good visit as well.

Overall, not bad for 2 days. Except for the Aquarium, it was fun. We will go back in July for a soccer game, Real Madrid is playing and we will take in an Astros game. "

Siam created the thread Keep your Situational Awareness and still listen to music, phone, podcast.
" I put this in the General Firearms section instead of off-topic because it has more to do with SA and self-defense than running

The spouse and I went to our local running store to get some new shoes for her and shorts for me. I have been curious about how well Bone Conductive Headphones work and they had a setup to try them out. I was honestly blown away by the quality and fidelity of the sound that you could hear.

Not only was it a great sound, you can hear all of the sounds around you since they do not go in your ears but are pressed against your bone. Point is, if you have a need or want to listen to music, your phone, podcasts, whatever, and want to make sure you can hear the sounds around you, this might be an option.

Personally, I like to blast my music into my ears so for me, not a need. But lots of folks like to run, walk the dog, play golf while having ear buds in but want to be able to hear what is around them.

Just food for thought.

Siam created the thread What is your litmus test for the RTKBA's?.
" Someone asked me this once in another thread which has definitely gone off topic.

You can't discriminate between WMD and bump stocks? Perhaps therein lies the problem.
This was my answer to that (edited for this thread)

And to answer your question about distinguishing between WMD's and bump stocks..nope, I do not really see a difference and here is why. Quite simply, anyone sitting in the Presidents office will decide what they think is appropriate for me to own, buy, carry for my personal defense. If some POTUS thinks bump stocks should be banned, which is at the total end of the spectrum from WMD's...what stops such a person from declaring anything in the middle deemed necessary to be banned.
That IS the problem when we think it is OK for a person or government to decide what a person wants. There is enough stuff in a Walmart or Home Depot where someone can buy stuff and design a weapon that can cause mass destruction. It might not fit the definition of WMD, but being able to make something to kill 20 people or more is definitely more of a threat than a potential use of a bump stock..

What is your personal litmus test of what should be banned under law and what you consider NOT an infringement. "

Siam created the thread The human body is amazing: runner shooting for sub 2 hour marathon.
" Kipchoge targets London for attempt at sub 2-hour marathon

Just to put this in perspective, this guy holds the world record right now on a certified course/race 2 hr 1 min 39 sec (4 min 38 sec per mile). He attempted to run sub 2 hours a couple of years ago with pacers, a flat track and no wind. And missed it by 25 seconds.

To run sub 2 hours, one would need to basically be sprinting a 100 yard dash in just a tad under 16 seconds continuously for 26.2 miles.

Training is one thing, but genetics obviously a major factor here

I am hoping to run sub 3 hours in Nov or Dec this year and I would be happy with that being 55 years old "

Siam created the thread Felon and GCA 1968: Actress cries as she pleads guilty in college admissions scandal.
" Actress Felicity Huffman cries as she pleads guilty in college admissions scandal

1: This is the correct forum, (not current events) because it is about gun rights
2: This is not about a Hollywood star that might or not own firearms or her thoughts about them, it is about being a felon and no longer having the right to bear arms.

When she appeared in court in Boston, prosecutors recommended a sentence of four months prison time for the "Desperate Housewives" TV star for her role in the college admissions scandal. They also suggested a $20,000 fine and 12 months of supervised release for the charge, which is a felony.
Unless one has not been following the news, a bunch of rich folks basically paid a guy to get their kids into "prestigious" colleges. They are now being held accountable, which they should be. They will also have been convicted of a felony or plead guilty to a felony which means that they can no longer purchase or own firearms.

This a great example of why the Gun Control Act of 1968 needs to be repealed.

Totally stupid that these folks cannot bear arms after they serve their sentences. "

Siam created the thread Mothers Day present fail! (also, what did you get for the ladies in your lives?).
" I just got done playing a round of golf with my father in law and nephew. My nephew is 25 and has been married less than a year. I told him what I got my wife for Mother's Day and my FIL did the same. He said that his wife wanted crepes for breakfast on Mother's Day. So, being the new husband he is, he did not pick up on the fact she wanted to go out for breakfast. What he did was buy her a Crepe pan set!

Just to verify, I texted my wife who is with her mom and niece shopping and that is what she was expecting, to be taken out.

Good thing for him we caught this in time LOL

Off topic, I shot a 105. I am a runner, not a golfer

I got my my wife a Fitbit Ionic, a couple of workout tanktops, and a gift certificate for Victoria Secrets. My Mom got a package from Sharri Berries.

What did you all do/get for the ladies in your lives? "

Siam created the thread Prayers for my Sister, her husband and family.
" Long story short, my BIL has had failing health (diabetes, went blind) and now is emotionally and mentally not being able to deal with it. God gives us this life and the will to do what we want with it. He did not take the advice of doctors and got himself to this situation he is in right now.

He went nuts over the weekend and tried to kill himself. When the LE showed up he wanted the LE to shoot him. He is currently in a physiatrist facility being evaluated.

My sister has been totally stressed in the last 5 years with his declining health and his unwillingness to help himself. Don't get me wrong, he has been a great husband and father to his kids. I think at this point in his life he realized HE screwed up and now wants to end it.

My concern and prayers for him are that the idiots in the psych ward will believe him when he says he is OK and they let him go home and he will kill himself.

Prayers requested and thanks for your time "

Siam created the thread Rant of the Day: The National Weather Alerts need to be banned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
" I cannot watch ONE single show on TV without that gosh darn awful alert warning tone sounding and then a one to two minute banner and voice telling me a thunderstorm is in my area and to take shelter and not cross high water in the roads.

It frankly gets irritating. Last week this happened every 5 minutes for THREE hours as the storm moved from one county to another.

I just went to Netflix and watched something.

If you are in Texas and are stupid enough that you need to have a warning to tell you not to cross high waters, then let Darwin take care of the problem. "

Siam created the thread Figure the odds on this event happening (Gun related).
" I was telling my wife about an episode of "Hollywood Weapons: Fact or Fiction" that I was watching. She was in he she-cave watching "Justified". I laughed and said "what a coincidence", the guy on my show is reenacting a shooting from Justified. I Walked in to she what episode she was watching and it was the SAME episode that they were discussing my show.

Odds that she was watching that episode at the same time I was watching my show comes to 1:1872 (78 episodes of Justified, 24 for HW:FF).

That is not counting that she was actually watching Justified at all at the same time which would obviously make it even less probable.

BTW: Awesome show! They did one about the Star Trek episode with the Gorn, when Kirk made the cannon. "
