I disagree about national reciprocity. We have national reciprocity for drivers licenses, marriages and lots of other stuff. We have LEOSA. A locality could try to say they don't want to play, but how could they convict someone for carrying under national reciprocity if there is a federal law that mandates it? They could get the defendant to court. They might even get a local conviction, once. But the first federal appeal and the locals would lose.
Yep. Let NR pass. Take your tx permit and go to Illinois jersy NY . You'll be busted if caught. You will stay in jail until bail is set. If it's set. Then I assume you have 50,000 or so bucks to battle your way thru the state courts to finally arrive at a federal one. And depending on the judge you may lose there too.

The states worked out DLs, MLs, and even MLs aren't recognized the same from state to state
The Fed had zip to do with any of that.

LEOSA isnt even honored in several states . Even for active duty out of state cops.

NR is a carrot Republicans and the NRA use to attach Bill's like fix nicz too. That can't get out of committe or the house on their own. Then separate the Bill's and pass the anti gun one.
That's it and that's all. Smoke and mirrors, already used once and some gun owners still didnt catch on "

In my opinion, its called a false analogy.. the gun grabbers use the tactic all the time. This sort of logic model only works when the circumstances and context are relatively the same. That is clearly not the case here.

If you could take a UK officer, arm them, afford them similar practical experience, subject them to the same circumstance and with the same frequency of occurrence and ultimately come up with a different result, it may be noteworthy. Let someone conduct that honest study and I will follow it with fresh interest. The ongoings of police in the UK have nothing to do with the ongoings of police in the US. It doesn't matter what happens more in the UK vs the US. The fact that the UK can actually operate a unarmed police force in many places and still yield effective results proves it. That model would not work in the US for obvious reasons that have nothing to do with the Police themselves. Its more about the intent, actions, nature and overall capabilities of the criminal that has more to do with how Police response to them. People would like to believe that its more about the attitude of Police but I consider that belief to be silly.

You have the right to consider that silly.
A huge number of the population would strongly disagree.
Police have for decades begged for and perpetuated a them vs the lowly citizen attitude. That's simply a fact.
At some point when the population is pushed hard enough it pushes back.

That unarmed cops can be deployed in some other country's, one hardly means they are effective'(they aren't btw,) means nothing other than they do not instigate confrontation over a litany of trivial non sense laws that exist here. "

I read that about 520,000 of the devices have been sold over the years, but only about 700 have been turned it. Some could have been destroyed, but I will bet no many.

Also, the ban was done without passing a new law, which is good and bad. It is bad in that is getting around the legislative process, but it also means Trumps can reverse it anytime he wants. I wrote my representatives opposing the ban, but I don't even know anyone who had a bump stock. If that, and Fix NICS is all Trump ever does to gun rights, he is ahead of the curve for conservative presidents. If I was going to blame Trump for anything, it would be not getting National Reciprocity and the Hearing Protection Act passed and signed when the legislature was Republican controlled. The other two things I don't care much about.
National Reciprocity will never be passed and would be worthless if it was.

Any state or city is free to ignore any act of congress.
If one believes that the Fed is going to send troops to the states that would definitely ignore it, to enforce an unenforceable in practical terms , act of congress over the carrying of firearms one is dreaming .

Trump IS an anti gun president. He does some other very good things but he is NOT on the side of gun owners. "

Other than being filed early there is no difference the way a prefiled bill is handled than one filed during the legislative session.
Both go thru the same process during the regular legislative e session.

Some prefilled Bill's never get out of committe just like regularly filed bills.

Honestly prefiling a bill is just another way of politically posturing. "

A person who will verbally attack any person who is minding their own business, if not challenged, will usually escalate their abuse. LE followed the proper procedure for addressing this, but as Nakyak pointed out they could have used a different method to accomplish the same thing.

I have no idea why you think you can make that statement. You have no way of knowing that.
The fact LE is able to leave their station and not be constant physically attacked by a large portion of the public proves it.
Many many people dislike LE in general yet they do not attack or booby trap them .

If you are indicating that you believe that "any" individual, who is minding their own business and bothering no-one, can be verbally attacked or prevented from enjoying their freedoms, by any other person, you are wrong. LE has every right to enjoy the same freedoms the rest of us have, to enjoy life free from harassment. Anything less is anarchy.
LE, on duty, have no right to be living in a safe space where they are not " offended" . To state they do is simply wrong.

While I don’t know how the prefiled bill fits into the grand scheme of the KY statutes I do know that I’ll never register anything nor divest myself of any weapon, accessory or ammunition. The state adopting a bill like this will not however result in my committing a class a misdemeanor but rather a significant felony as the only acceptable course of action is to take as many of the opposition with me and to surrender only in death. Any person with lessor committment deserves whatever befalls them by those fascists who seek to deprive us of our God given liberty. These are not intellectual problems solved by brisk debate, nor to be solved at the voting booth, but rather in the immediacy of the moment as was done during the foundations of our great nation.

Prefilled simply means the bill has been filed early for consideration of the state government.

It still has to go thru the same process as any other bill does and the Gov does have to sign it into law.
The reason these anti gun Bill's are getting filed is we now have a Gov who would happily sign any of them if one should reach his desk. "

Probably true.

I mention such things because like a piece of rotten meat, one tends to warn others about it.

Other than an occasional attaboy for a good cop going above and beyond, there really is no reason to point out the behavior of good cops acting in compliance with the law.
That is what they are paid, and expected to do. Nothing more or less.

Bad ones however , are acting outside of the law and /,or what is expected of them. Such officers the public needs to know exist, in greater numbers than the average person expects. "

Defending against illegal attack by an LEO or unlawful arrest ,which a person has a right to do.

Police have personal beefs with folks like everyone else. And many are not above using their badge as a shield to beat the stuffing out of someone they personally dislike .
Or simply make that person disappear .

In those cases, and they happen more often than one would think, the citizen has every right to defend themselves. "

"The officer was taken to Nassau University Medical Center for treatment.

The NYPD is investigating how the blade ended up in the meal and whether the officer was targeted. He was in plainclothes when he placed his order but rolled up to the deli in a marked police car."
That crosses the line from name calling to intentionally causing physical harm. Arrest should be made over such actions.

There is no connection to be made between the two. One can intensely dislike police and never commit any act that attempts physical harm to them. In fact most folks that dislike police never have nor would ever think of doing such a thing.

There is no law nor requirement , legal or moral that a police officer must be respected. Citizens are free in this country to not like, hate , disrespect police if that is their position.
To attempt to curb that freedom is to move toward a police state, which in large part we already are.

Calling an officer names , even directly in his face is legal , and should be. And any officer worth his salt will be professional and not react to it . To do so is as childish as the name caller. Such a officer should not be allowed to keep a badge. "

Got news for you: what you are telling me is not a secret, nor has it ever been. One never has to have been in LE to know that. Sorry to burst the buuble, but that secret society is not, and has not been a very good secret.

Everyone I knew growing up knew LE did not go after LE and let things slide. Old news..let us carry on to the modern era

You have been watching the news the last few years right? Tons of LEO's are getting arrested by LEO's and being prosecuted around the country. Do things slide and LE looks the other way sometimes? Of course. No different than any other profession.

Just in San Antonio alone, there have been at least 30 officers (PD, Sheriffs, and others) that have been arrested and have had repercussions because of false statements, drunk driving, domestic abuse. I used 30 as a low number since they seem to be in the news every week.

The only difference is if you are on the inside, you know which ones are not prosecuted. But is is not, and never has been a secret, that there has been favoritism.
Of course the public has known that there was corrupt LE since there has been such a thing as a police force.

Their beginnings were controlled by business for the purpose of " crowd control" ie union busting.

My point and the fact is that unless one is actually privy to the inside workings of depts one doesn't realize that for every officer charged with anything, forget convicted, there are 100s that are never touched. Either because what they are doing is either not known, over looked by their dept , or encouraged by their dept. "

Sounds like a corrupt department and Chief to me. Publicly we have had a few officers sent up the river here and in surrounding communities near where I live for exactly those offenses. Perhaps your department needed to clean house.

I am fine with your belief that the daughter is being honest, I believe she is lying. That is all they are beliefs or opinions. I would ask if you read the Daughter's tweets (all of them)? To me she comes across as rebellious and vindictive. Did anything in the tweets convince you that she is telling the truth?
It wasnt just one dept. It ran the gamut from city on thru state police. I only know of one situation where officers were arrested and convicted of any domestic situation.

That said I realize unless your an officer yourself in some capacity , you dont hear or know about this stuff.
And depts dont get cleaned out because more offices need cleaned out than need to stay. It's bad ju ju to have over half the officers you work with hating you.
It's real easy to just be a few seconds late covering someone and letting them be shot or beat to death. So cops that might speak up publically keep their mouth shut or quit because speaking up wont change anything but probably will get one fired. Or killed.

I guess if you base allegations of an obviously rebellious daughter as a reason to open an investigation on a LEO, you can make that case. I guess that would be like an ex-wife in a bitter divorce opening a case to take her husbands guns without due process. Some things just speak to you with a little common sense, somethings don't.
An example of I've been there you aint.

Several times local LE here had problems of officers kicking the stuffing out of their wife or kid ,or both.

911 calls were made , officers went , talked the " brother" into going to a motel for the night. Despite clear physical evidence the complaints were real.

The couple of times responding officers made an arrest, they were told by dispatch to call the chief. An were ordered over the phone to take bro officer to x motel and leave him there.

Based on personal experiences several times I tend to believe the daughter. Getting an LEO arrested on anything domestic is almost impossible. "

This spreads. You mentioned not eating in a restaurant when on duty. Sarah Sanders went to eat with friends on her own time and was harassed. Why do you think that if it's okay to not be courteous to an officer on duty that you should get a pass when off duty?
I dont think you can find where I said it was ok. Or the thing for a server etc to do.
What I keep trying to point out gently I'll try putting bluntly.

You dont want to empower an individual to enforce laws, carry a gun, taser, etc who has no more discipline than to get wrapped around the axle over 3rd grade level name cling. A person that does, after being warned from the get go that this stuff and worse will happen , and expected to ignore it , has no business being in LE.

That person does not have the self control to deal with stuff cops deal with every day. These are the guys tossing ten year old girls across classrooms. Handcuffing g 8 yr olds for poptart guns.
And yes using excessive force during arrests. Because they get furious when their " commands" aren't followed.

Cops have been done this way for decades. The difference is the snowflakes got canned in years past.

Being LEO is a tough job at times. But now depts hire college boys, who get " offended " and react to school yard name calling.

The reason I didnt eat in resturants was you never know what was done to your food. Not because of silly name calling "

That should take care of the problem unless, of course, It is someplace like Baltimore or NYC. In the communities I am familiar with, this type of behavior would be taken care of by the citizens and I guarantee that this little scumbag would have lost his job without any further input from LE.

Yeah that is who I am going to listen to, some little spoiled brat that does not or did not like the discipline her Father raised her in. The fact is you nor I know the situation there, or whether she is telling the truth. She could just be another person like you who saw a chance to criticize LE, and took it. There is nothing wrong with that but it helps to remember that, if we don't have direct knowledge of the situation, everything you or I say on the topic is hearsay.

Like I said, you don't want to know about it but I do, especially if it is in my community. I don't like bad LE any more than the next guy, but I also dislike citizens or businesses that disrespect LE for no reason. Get rid of citizens who pull this crap and the world would be a better place, get rid of LE and we would have anarchy.

You are stretching if you claim to know the character of these LEOs, without knowing them personally, just by reading the article. You are assigning yourself far more insight than you could possibly have.

The Cops are the Chief's employees and he should be concerned if they are being disrespected, they are also my employees and I am concerned as well. This affects morale and performance, and as a taxpayer I should be concerned about it.

Again my point is missed. The media can be pulled into printing anything.
The point is the officers have no authority, and are actually trained to IGNORE such trivial crap. Why? Because that and worse happens thousands of times a day to LEOS .
If officers are going to get their shorts in a knot over something as childish as name calling what will that officer do when some big perp starts tossing him around like loose paint chips ?
The same thing he did because his wittle feelers got hurt by some name calling him.

Over react. Use to much force to affect the arrest or something similiar.

That's the bottom line. No officer I worked with or near would have brought this to a chiefs attention. To do so would likely have resulted in a dressing down to grow up and get over it. At minimum. "

I understand what your saying . But where LE is concerned they are NOT just customers. They are the public's employees.
I dont think you'll find any resturants for example that feed every citizen for free or half price. Yet there are many many eateries that do feed LE for free or heavily discounted. So much so many cops will get angry if a restaurant employee forgets to cut him his perk.

Trying to compare the average citizen with Leo's on duty is comparing apples and bullets.

The average cop gets way more perks at restaurants than the few that get dissed.

Personally I didnt eat at restaurants when on duty. I think a cop that does probably doesn't care or hasn't thought of exactly what he may be eating. "

All that said. We have "tradition" dictating much to much to do with our laws and rights. "

Of much greater concern to me, is that it is disrespect to ANY customer by an employee whose job is to serve customers with common courtesy. Yeah, this and many other incidents like it show that common courtesy aren't as common as they used to.

The concern whether it was a policeman or his family's relationships or what they think of him shouldn't be an issue whether one is getting coffee or a burger, or a suit, or shoes.

It is not trivial that it is becoming common that employees find it reasonable to be disrespectful to any customer based on their own personal issues. This is a frightening trend in our society.
Agree that we are divided as a nation as we have been since the civil war.

Fact remains , if one takes a job as LE , one is told and trained to ignore " offensive " name calling by citizens.

If one cannot do that they should not become LE. It really is that simple. "

Simply had more important things to think about. I was tasked to ride shotgun with a FW officer because of death threats to him.
We had an off duty officer working a unrelated no uniform second job attacked on main street, in broad daylight by a person he arrested for DUI. Broke his ankle and got a concussion from it.
Real kinda important things like that to think about.

What a person called me good or bad really didn't register except as background noise. Wasnt important enough to pay attention too. Besides the citizen didnt owe me respect and had a right to his opinion.

It was back then a non issue what somebody called us.

This case is a lot clearer than the NY case and it is not moot. The ruling could easily declare that 2A applies outside the home, which of course it does and that may issue is therefore unconstitutional. They could also set a higher standard of scrutiny for future 2A cases. It would truly be a neater solution than ruling on the NY case and would accomplish the same thing.
Of course I hope you are right.

That said I see little hope in SCOTUS rulings.
There was the ridiculous red herring that the BOR did not apply to the states which it clearly did from the beginning.

The 2nd Amendment was not an act of congress that can constitutionally be ignored by the states.
It was a constitutional amendment , ratified by the states and binding on the states from the day it was ratified.

Yet SCOTUS let that silly theory it didnt apply run for what over 2 centuries?

SCOTUS is,Federal. I simply do not believe after all this time of infringement after infringement that the robes are going to willingly put the balance of power back into the hands of we the people.

I voted for him because of his hard RTKABA stand like most who did vote for him. But that he would lose was a foregone conclusion.

He did while he was in office the three of four things guaranteed to make him lose.

1. He tried to rape the teachers pension fund which he may have got by with . But when he couldn't get passed he had republicans attach that bill to a sewage bill.
That cost some house Republicans to be ousted.
Strike 1

Strike 2. He tried to cut Medicade in a state where alot of good folks , republicans too. have to have it to get even basic health care. That would likely have cost his office ty itself

Strike 3, he led the head to g charge over the cliff and made Ky a heavy union state in the building trades into a right to work state a finished cutting his own throat.

He was fine when he told folks if they wanted more gun control the needed to move to another state that had it because it wasnt happening here.

But he couldn't leave well enough alone .

Probably the GOP in ky has cut it's own throat also going along with him and will lose control of the legislature as the next elections happen.

Shame too. But they do it every single time they manage to gain power.

There's also a major problem when way less than a third of the state controls an election , but that's another thread. "

Ghost1958 created the thread Diamondback DB9 Keeping me armed..
" Some of you may have read my review of the 2nd gen DB9 several months ago.

The little beast has remained flawless through approx 1000 rds to date. 100 percent reliable.

I had never carried it as a primary defensive gun due to its 7 rd capacity and tiny size, always used it as a BUG.

Recently I've been forced by circumstance to often be where leaving isn't an option and getting made carrying a gun is guaranteed is be asked to leave. Deep concealment at these, facilities is absolutely nessacary. Even pocket carry is to obvious.

During this time the little pistol has taken on the role of primary and causing me to be very thankful I own it.

Fitted with a Clip draw it snuggles in my waist band my belt practically hiding the entire pistol. Letting me be where even my sr9c might get noticed.

Not wanting to start a,caliber war , but personally I do not trust 380. The DB9 is allowing me to remained armed where even a j frame couldnt while being 13 rds of 9mm Critical Defence to the party counting my spare mag totally undetected.

Back at the car the sr9c takes over as primary but now that I'm having to go where the going is tight concerning carry, the little rattlesnake has been a Godsend.

If anyone neededs more firepower than a jframe, where even pocket carry won't cut it, the DB9 fitted with the Clipdraw is just the ticket. "

Ghost1958 created the thread Should armed citizen have immunity if engaging active shooter.?.
" One of the big reasons many armed citizens state as a reason they would not engage an active shooter is the risk of criminal and / or civil prosecution.

IMO an armed citizen who engages an active shooter should have absolute immunity from arrest, detainment, surrender of weapon , and criminal prosecution of civil action.

The reality is a situation where a madman slaughtering innocents cannot be made any worse by armed citizens engaging him.
The active shooter is going to continue killing until he either runs out of ammo, runs out of victims, or is engaged by a armed citizen or citizens and stopped or self destructs.

An armed citizen , even if he should inadvertently cause collateral damage to someone is not making the situation worse as the innocent that close to the active shooter struck by him would have been shot by the active shooter anyway.

Police are rarely around when active shooters strike and even more rarely act in time to make any difference in body count, so they really don't figure into the situation. Other than to frog march survivors past their mrap and swat team with their hands up .

IMHO any armed citizen who attempts to engage and stop an active shooter should have total immunity from arrest, detainment, surrender of weapon, criminal prosecution and civil action. PERIOD
And all states laws should be changed to grant that that absolute immunity. "

Ghost1958 created the thread The Clip Draw.
" I was gifted one of the universal Clip Draws several days ago.

I put it on my DiamondBack db9.

Now I know some are going to object the clip draw is unsafe, a ND waiting to happen , etc, so I put these claims to the test.

For those unfamiliar the DB 9 had no safety at all.

No external safety nor even the little Glock like trigger blade . It's simply pull the trigger and bang.

Mine has a trigger pull slightly lighter than a Glock.

Being fond of my leg, I carried the DB9 IWB using only the clip draw with no round in the chamber for several days to see if the trivger could be inadvertently pulled.

Mowed lawn , weed eated, worked on the boat, crawled around,on the ground checking brake shoes, and a bunch of other tasks.

Nothing. The pistol remained quietly resting IWB with no activating of the trigger.

My body on one side and my jeans on the other along with my belt acted as a holster preventing anything from getting to the trigger.

In order for the thing to fire I would have to grow a finger on my hip.

It's a very slim , light , and safe method of carry ,at least for a small pistol like the Db9 as a BUG or if very deep concealment is needed. "

Ghost1958 created the thread Never get too comfortable.
" With a person even though you've known them well for years.

I made this mistake , luckily my family didn't pay for my mistake this time.

A few years ago, when I was President of GMMCC, I met a young man who was interested in joining .

He was younger by 20 years than me, he rode his own bike, put in the application, did his time hanging around the group, helping out together charity events, and was voted in.

He even stayed at my house for a couple of weeks because, he said, of trouble at home with an uncle.

That was a lie. Actually the guy would rather climb a tree upside down than tell the truth.

Still, he was a decent member, good to do his share etc.

He carried a revolver, but I thought nothing of that as almost every member did and does , as well as the general public here.

At no time did he ever show a temper, even when caught in one of his many tall tales.

I saw him almost daily for two years.
Absolutely , I would have bet , a particularly non violent person , even when pushed.
I wouldn't have trusted him to have my back , but saw no danger in him.

Long story shortened , he met a girl , got married dropped his patch and resigned .
That was four years ago.

A few months ago , the man I let crash at our house, shot and killed his wife's 80 yr old grandpa, who he and his wife lived with, in front of her and the old man's wife as he sat in his chair.

Arrested and charged with murder, a few weeks ago he was charged with attempting to hire the troopers who arrested him, and the old man's wife ,killed.

I knew, rode with, and worked side by side with this cat for several years in GMMCC. Heck we even shot together several times. Never saw the first hint of any danger to him.

Just goes to show, there's no knowing of predicting what an individual may do. "

We went everyday came back every nite until she passed.

His car is a Caddilac equipped with SUPER Cruise.
Which means when set the car is totally self driving.
Steers itself, slows for slower vehicles in front of it, slows for curves blends in with traffic speed etc.

It also flashed pedestrian warnings if some is walking across the road in front of it.

Equipped with thermal night vision that allows you to see deer , people, dogs etc from up to over a mile away.
If the driver begins to nod off the seat shakes, red lights flash and a voice warns that super cruise will be disengaged. Same if the driver looks away from the road for to long.

It is limited to interstates.

The one I was driving would also disengage if the sun shown thru the drivers window at just the right angle to blind the small sensor that watched the driver.

All in all a pretty amazing car to drive, ehhhh, or sit and watch drive itself lol. "

Ghost1958 created the thread Do you want restrictions on your RTKABA?.
" I've grown curious over time as on every gun forum there are always a few that will argue for restrictions on the RTKABA. Even though the 2A prohibits any.

Hence the musical question, understanding that any restrictions could in the future apply to you, do you honestly want your RTKABA restricted ,or eliminated? "

Ghost1958 created the thread 25 yard and up club..

Anyway. This thread is for shooting attempts ,off hand , no warmup, at distances of 25yrds min.

I'll start. This was about an hour ago , SR9c , Seller Beloit 115 gr fmj.
Target is based on FBI new smaller bottle target.

10 rds fired off hand , cold,. 7 hits of 10 fired.

Attachment 22111

Hope this thread catches on. SD situations don't always happen at 7 yards. "
