Arms meaning weapons of any sort from the simplest to the most complex and destructive.

Otherwise the 2a has no meaning.

It wasn't written for SD, hunting , target shooting etc. It's MAIN purpose was to assure the people could , if nessacary, throw off grips of a tyranical government . Just as the founders had just done.

Unless the people are armed in parity or greater with gov the whole purpose the founders wrote the 2a for. Regulation of weapons by any gov defeats that purpose.
Well said.

There should be no arms regulations at all.

The only laws needed are those against murder, robbery, assault, rape, etc. etc. Actual crimes against others. Methods or tools used are irrelevant. "

Those people have shown that they can walk into a service station, shoot the attendant 3 times and rob them of a few dollars and that they can be punished with a death sentence. To try and claim that these same scumbags, who wrangle a get out of jail card from some progressive idiots on a parole board, can not be deprived of any freedom society chooses to take from them is ludicrous to say the least.

I have stated this several times. I am not saying that keeping violent felons from possessing a gun will accomplish that but it will give LE a reason to get them off the street and in prison where they belong because they will repeat in most cases. These people have forfeited their rights by committing crimes that are not redeemable, at least in the world of humans.

I don't know where you got that I am fine with releasing them unless you are misconstruing the post. Saying that criminals who have killed or maimed innocents somehow get their rights back when released is the other side of the argument, not mine. They should never be released but the fact is they are, and I say the Constitution does not say we have to reinstate their RTKAB, or to vote, or to freely associate or any other right society decides to deprive them of. All I have said is that the States should decide whether they get any of their rights back if they are released, not the Federal government, and that the COTUS does not prevent the States from doing that. Perhaps you can point to that part of the COTUS that makes this claim, no one else seems to be able to.

I would also point out that a concerted effort to reinstate the right of a violent criminals to possess firearms when released would face a terrific backlash from the public and would almost certainly harm the 2nd Amendment in the long run.
So instead of advocating putting violent predators behind bars and keeping them there, you want to punish a whole group of people that have committed non-violent felonies, felonies that used to be misdemeanors BTW, all in the name of the slim chance you will keep those violent felons from committing another violent crime with a piece of paper?

The label of felon is far too prevalent in crimes that should never have been felonies in the first place.

There is a two-fold reason for making minor crimes felonies, one is to keep the private prisons stocked full of inmates so they can make a fortune and the other is to control the people. What better way for our government to run rough-shod over the citizens than to be able to remove their rights without incarcerating them and spending a dime but instead just punishing them for life for free?

Free to walk the streets means free with all rights intact. Anything less is a joke that does nothing to make anyone any safer but does give our government more power over us. "

What specific crime did she commit that would warrant the loss of her rights for life?

RScottie created the thread Update on my Daughter and her recovery.
" I am happy to report that my daughter is recovering pretty well. She is still very sore and has limited motion.

She has returned to school and that has really helped her emotionally.

I on the other hand am still feeling the fallout from this.

We are starting to get bills for her hospital stay, the surgeries, and her aftercare. All totaled, they billed my insurance almost $200,000 so far. My insurance says they will go after the drivers insurance policy for me.

That is all well and good but I have 80/20 coverage and they are sending me the bills for the 20%.

I have called a lawyer as 20% could be as much as $40,000.

I don't have that.

I have been riding my motorcycle a lot and just trying to keep my sanity.

I have a lot to be thankful for, especially that my daughter even survived. But, this is likely going to go on for some time. I cannot let it bankrupt my family.

If anyone has been through something similar, advice is appreciated.

EDIT -- Link to prior thread: Spent last week at the hospital, my daughter was in a bad wreck. "

" Martha Stewart is a felon. She should not be, but she is.

She spoke to a Federal Employee on her porch that was asking her questions about her investments. She told him she did not know as she had a guy that did that stuff for her. The agent was persistent and asked her to answer to the best of her knowledge. She fell for it and tried to answer his questions. Then, when her investment guy was questioned, the answers were not perfectly aligned.

So they charged her with lying to a Federal Agent, a felony.

She had told the guy at her door that she was not sure but they did not care.

She should not have been put in jail and she definitely should not have been hit with a felony.

Does anyone think Martha Stewart is a danger to society? "

RScottie created the thread Spent last week at the hospital, my daughter was in a bad wreck.
" I haven't been keeping up with the posts the last week and a half because my 17 year old daughter was in an accident.

She was a passenger in the truck pictured below. She was in the backseat and had her seat belt on.

There were 5 teens in the truck. All of them were injured.

My daughter was the most seriously injured. She suffered internal bleeding that required surgery and the removal of two pieces of her small intestine.

She also had a broken back and the top of her sternum, the manubrium, was broken. She was bruised all over.

Her back required 4 screws and two rods to repair. She will have those for life.

She is out of the hospital now and was able to return to school today. She has a long way to go to recover, but she is strong.

The driver's right leg was broken in 4 places and his liver and spleen were lacerated. The did not do surgery on them as they stopped bleeding on their own.

Another one had a broken jaw and numerous bruises while the remaining two were just bruised all over, and sore.

I hope those kids realize how close they came to not going home that day. I have been thanking God daily for her recovery.

RScottie created the thread Wikileaks founder dragged out of Ecuadorian Embassy in handcuffs by a large group of police officers.
" Julian Assange was arrested by British police today after being hauled out of the Ecuadorian embassy in London following an extradition request by the US.

The Wikileaks founder, sporting a scruffy beard and unkempt hair, was dragged out of the building head-first in handcuffs by a group of seven men as his stunned supporters watched on as he screamed out 'the UK must resist'.

RScottie created the thread Rep Wants To Know How Much Ammo Someone Really Needs, People’s Answers Are Brilliant.
" Connecticut state Rep. Jillian Gilchrest is making headlines over her radical ammunition tax proposal.

The bill, HB-5700, would see a 50 percent tax slapped on ammo sales for no other reason than to make it harder to purchase. As Gilchrest imagines, it would work the same way prohibitive cigarette taxes do.

Gilchrest. a Democrat, uploaded a video of herself promoting the bill to Twitter, and took a smug swipe at citizens voicing their concerns over ammunition purchased for self-defense.

“I’m hearing push back about the need to protect one’s home,” Gilchrest wrote. “But how much ammunition does someone really need to do that?”

RScottie created the thread Twitter User Threatened By NY Congresswoman – And It *Wasn’t* AOC.
" Conservative activist and high school junior CJ Pearson tweeted out a comment about Ocasio-Cortez and how “the woman sitting next to her” was “trying to look the other way” during the State of the Union.

As it turns out “the woman sitting next to her” was Democrat Nydia Velazquez, who has represented New York’s 7th district since 2013 (she represented the 12th from 1993 to 2013).

Not only did Rep. Velazquez apparently not appreciate her name not being known, but she also told Pearson point blank that he was, “[R]ight to be afraid of us.”

RScottie created the thread Five Republicans Join Democrat Push to Criminalize Private Gun Sales.
" Five Republican House members have joined the Democrat push to criminalize private gun sales.

The five are Reps. Peter King (R-NY), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Fred Upton (R-Mich.), Chris Smith (R-NJ), and Brian Mast (R-FL).

King is a sponsor of the bill to criminalize private gun sales, standing with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) for more gun control. And Rep. Mast is continuing to show a penchant for gun control he first displayed after the Parkland school shooting, when he called for President Trump to enact a national ban on the sale of AR-15 rifles.
