I may be simple minded but I don't WANT Republican congress critters to work with him on the RTKABA. Because all he has done and all he has talked about is limiting it further.

Otherwise I wouldn't be hammering Mitch every othe t day and urging everyone I know to let Mitch know if he DOES work with him in limiting our RTKABA, he's political toast.
I am not sure what he thinks about the 2nd Amendment.

I do know that the measures he has signed off on were all based on political points and not on their actual ability to do any real harm.

I also know that if he passes Red Flag Laws or "Universal Background Checks", he will not win re-election.

So far his best ability has been outing members of the swamp from both sides of the isle. "

Great discussion.
While you may not like President Trump's methods, and honestly, I sometimes worry about him for the same reasons, one thing I think we both can agree upon is that he is causing our so-called Representatives to show their true colors.

He is making them show themselves for the fake career politicians they truly are that care less about their constituents and the Constitution and more about power and getting re-elected than anything else.

But, no matter what we think of him or his methods, he is the best thing we've had in a long time to maybe fix the mess we have in regards to our gun rights. "

Then those that "care" best be calling their never-trumper representatives and telling them what they want to happen.

We really need to stand our ground here or we will be taken out one by one. "

He is not winning any votes with his stances, he is annoying people that might actually vote for him again by not letting us know what he really intends to do.
And, in politics, he is doing it the best he can.

Simply because you do not like it and do not understand that he has gotten more done with both the r's and d's against him than any of the previous Presidents.

If he comes right out and says "No gun bans", you will see both sides come up with a bipartisan bill to ban assault weapons and another bill for Red Flag Laws and they will send it to him. When he veto's them, they will override him. That is how much the swamp hates Donald Trump. They are willing to dump our 2nd Amendment rights in order to defeat him.

We the People need to stop focusing on President Trump and focus on OUR Representatives. We need to let them know that we are tired of their bull and want them to work with the President in protecting our rights.

Your position seems to be very similar to the never Trumpers. You do not like his methodology so you don't want to play. That way of thinking will get us a full fledged Socialist elected in 2020.

And that would be a disaster. "

Anyway, I appreciate your comments and thanks for the reply.
The voters have no power to submit legislation and the Republicans have already shown they will not work with President Trump.

The Republicans had almost 2 years to get things done before the Democrats took the house but Rino Ryan did not want to do anything to make it look like President Trump was getting something done.

I blame the Republicans for the mess we are in.

We must vote them out and find replacements that will do the will of the people.

President Trump cannot do it alone. "

Unless you think the goal of playing poker is to come to a mutual agreement on who wins and/or share the pot LOL

That is not what this is about. We do not know what the end goal is when it comes to the 2A for Trump.

I personally think it is a terrible analogy.

As an aside. If we are making card game references, if you are playing Hearts....you for sure want to know what your teammate thinks and you want that info conveyed to your teammate as best you can so you can win. You play together to outwit your opponent. That is a better analogy IMO. I don't know what Trump wants to do.
Except who is working WITH President Trump?

Certainly not the Republicans.

So, he needs to be playing poker, not hearts. "

RScottie replied to the thread Jeffery Epstein found dead in this prison cell.
" They keep using the word "hanging", and that is incorrect. There was no hanging.

Hanging requires the whole body to be off the floor.

Asphyxiation by ligature would be the proper term if I remember correctly from when I assisted the Pathologists with autopsies from my earlier life.

Using ones body weight to lean in to a ligature tied around the neck is what Epstein did. It was the same thing Robin Williams did.

That method of "hanging" generally does not apply enough force to break the bone in question as there is no sudden drop involved to snap that bone.

That bone is broken in manual strangulation by hands because of where the fingers line up when the person is being strangled.

On a curious note, did you know it is much harder to strangle someone by hand from behind than from the front? It has to do with where the thumbs are. This is why assassins use a garrote which is a thin piece of wire with loops for holding.

I find it odd that other inmates reported a man screaming as if being attacked right before hearing a male voice telling Epstein, "Breathe Epstein, breathe".

People being strangled cannot yell... "

" All of this could be cured if people merely understood that laws do not prevent crime. They never have nor were they intended to.

Laws do nothing more than provide a means to deal with the person that committed the crime.

When our country was young, we didn't have a lot of laws. The main laws were the biggies, you know, murder, rape, robbery, assault, sedition, treason, arson and others.

There were not a lot of punishments either, mainly incarceration or death.

People understood that there would always be criminals and we would always have to deal with them.

Back they did not put people in jail or hang them for what they feared they would do. That didn't happen.

People were also "innocent until proven guilty". I guess that is going away too? "

RScottie created the thread Update on my Daughter and her recovery.
" I am happy to report that my daughter is recovering pretty well. She is still very sore and has limited motion.

She has returned to school and that has really helped her emotionally.

I on the other hand am still feeling the fallout from this.

We are starting to get bills for her hospital stay, the surgeries, and her aftercare. All totaled, they billed my insurance almost $200,000 so far. My insurance says they will go after the drivers insurance policy for me.

That is all well and good but I have 80/20 coverage and they are sending me the bills for the 20%.

I have called a lawyer as 20% could be as much as $40,000.

I don't have that.

I have been riding my motorcycle a lot and just trying to keep my sanity.

I have a lot to be thankful for, especially that my daughter even survived. But, this is likely going to go on for some time. I cannot let it bankrupt my family.

If anyone has been through something similar, advice is appreciated.

EDIT -- Link to prior thread: Spent last week at the hospital, my daughter was in a bad wreck. "

RScottie created the thread Spent last week at the hospital, my daughter was in a bad wreck.
" I haven't been keeping up with the posts the last week and a half because my 17 year old daughter was in an accident.

She was a passenger in the truck pictured below. She was in the backseat and had her seat belt on.

There were 5 teens in the truck. All of them were injured.

My daughter was the most seriously injured. She suffered internal bleeding that required surgery and the removal of two pieces of her small intestine.

She also had a broken back and the top of her sternum, the manubrium, was broken. She was bruised all over.

Her back required 4 screws and two rods to repair. She will have those for life.

She is out of the hospital now and was able to return to school today. She has a long way to go to recover, but she is strong.

The driver's right leg was broken in 4 places and his liver and spleen were lacerated. The did not do surgery on them as they stopped bleeding on their own.

Another one had a broken jaw and numerous bruises while the remaining two were just bruised all over, and sore.

I hope those kids realize how close they came to not going home that day. I have been thanking God daily for her recovery.

RScottie created the thread Rep Wants To Know How Much Ammo Someone Really Needs, People’s Answers Are Brilliant.
" Connecticut state Rep. Jillian Gilchrest is making headlines over her radical ammunition tax proposal.

The bill, HB-5700, would see a 50 percent tax slapped on ammo sales for no other reason than to make it harder to purchase. As Gilchrest imagines, it would work the same way prohibitive cigarette taxes do.

Gilchrest. a Democrat, uploaded a video of herself promoting the bill to Twitter, and took a smug swipe at citizens voicing their concerns over ammunition purchased for self-defense.

“I’m hearing push back about the need to protect one’s home,” Gilchrest wrote. “But how much ammunition does someone really need to do that?”

" Conservative activist and high school junior CJ Pearson tweeted out a comment about Ocasio-Cortez and how “the woman sitting next to her” was “trying to look the other way” during the State of the Union.

As it turns out “the woman sitting next to her” was Democrat Nydia Velazquez, who has represented New York’s 7th district since 2013 (she represented the 12th from 1993 to 2013).

Not only did Rep. Velazquez apparently not appreciate her name not being known, but she also told Pearson point blank that he was, “[R]ight to be afraid of us.”
