Nice photos. I used to play with possums when I coon hunted.

They only play dead as a defense if they think they are being killed.

Take a keen switch and whack that evil looking slick tail a few and he will sull up quick .

Exception is a mother carrying young in her pouch.
She won't play dead during that time but fight to her death.
Bro,, What do you do after hunting coon? BBQ?

Drowning any animal for a class , is out of line and lame.... period. Whether you like , don't like, the type of animal has not one thing to do with. Doing it in front of a class as they did, is out of line. Should be fired.

Despicable! I have no patience with this type of individual. A quick, humane kill is one thing but that is nothing more than torture. I hope this "teacher" loses his job over this.

Should the teacher have done this and made students watch? No
Should he have done it as quick as possible? Yes

Is this something I would do? Heck no. But I know plenty of people who dispatch pest animals, especially in suburban areas by drowning them. Itís a very common occurrence when a loud bang would get the cops called on you. Not a serial killer in the making.

Just an FYI, I did not read the article l, I am only speaking on behalf of what I read here on the forum

This guy seriously needs to be fired, not some paid vacation.

At least one child had the courage to take a video and report. I just wish some of them would have had the courage to stand up to the teacher during the class.

Isn't there some sort of law against cruelty to animals? Although some might not want to include coons and possums, some will.

I'm still trying to convince my animal loving neighbors that putting food out to attract coons and possums out of the woods into our back yards isn't the smartest thing to do. I may have to do something about it, but a bucket of water is not in my plans.

Iím sure there is. But how do you think we trapped animals for so long? You didnít want them thrashing and hurting the fur and you didnít want to put a hole in it... so a lot of animals were trapped around water to drown themselves.
He shouldnít have done it at school in front of students. I personally would have shot the pests if I thought they needed to die. But, he didnít do anything else out of the ordinary.

Too bad the teacher could not have humanely shot the vermin....

Easy thread .... I can agree with almost all of you in this one!

Yes, they need to be dealt with, and I like the quick shot method......doesn't take much to end them. The slow drowning was cruel and not necessary.

Most importantly: this teacher is an idiot. That was a horrible thing to subject those kids to. He needs to be term'd and his record marked as too stupid to be a teacher for the rest of his life.
