Yeah, I was contemplating letting it sleep in the swamps at the range...

Ran fifty 80-grain SPBTs loaded with BLC2 powder through the Goose today. 100% function! BLC2 is noticeably dirtier than the H335 I've used but has lower pressures, more bulk. I have a new scope on the way, a 4x12, and hopefully that will help tighten up the groups. Getting a cataract repaired wouldn't hurt either.

I don't know if it was the heat (high 80s) or that I arrived a bit later than usual, but the range was nearly empty, only 3-4 others on the rifle range. Even the pistol range was unusually quiet. Kind of nice actually.

Are you using a compressed load? You said a minimum charge almost filled the case, first time you tried it.

BLC2 is my go-to powder for 7.65x53, .30-06, and 7.7 Arisaka. I never tried it in a small case, so I'm interested in how it's working out for you.

It does okay. ED and SD are not up to what H335 is producing, nor are velocities. It's not bad by any means, just not excelling. I've loaded some 8208 but have not made it back to the range with other things going on.

When I say a minimum charge, I'm going with what others have loaded in the Mongoose case. It is supposed to hold 1-1.5 grains more than the .223 after it is fireformed, but I am not able to get the amounts in that some other claim. Other than more sooty, no real complaints. Just think there are better powders for this round.
