    Cool Custom blade #1

Our family vacation was to Alaska this year, and we passed through Talkeetna on our way up to Denali. They’ve got about a million street vendors and shops along the main street, and I stopped into a booth where a fellow by the name of Jeff Owens had a very fine collection of primitive style hand-forged blades on display. After some fantastic conversation and a wee bit of haggling, I left his booth with a heavier belt and a lighter wallet. Full-tang construction, 1095 steel, coal-forged and left with the rough finish on the blade. It has a traditionally-pinned wood handle, sealed with a satin finish, and a made-to-fit sheath of heavy black leather. Blade length is 4 1/4” from the plunge grind to the tip, and overall length is just shy of 9”. I’m looking forward to putting it through some extensive use, as I’ve been assured by the maker that it will make an excellent hard use blade.

Nice functional looking design, should do whatever you want to do in a skinning sized blade. Sheathwork is nice too.
