I haven't been to a drag race since my high school days. The drags were louder, but the rumble of the shuttle is felt more. Lasts longer too. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

During the Mercury and Gemini programs we lived in Cocoa Beach and attended school on Merritt Island which is about 7 miles from Cape Canaveral. When there were launches during school hours the teachers would let us out of class to go to the playground and watch the launch. Not knowing a thing about the speed of light verses the speed of sound it always fascinated me to see the rocket going up then a couple minutes later the sound would hit and you not only heard it but you felt it. During the shuttle program I heard the double sonic boom as the shuttle passed over San Francisco enroute to Edwards a time or two. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. While searching for ideas for an all-terrain robot/rover I want to make, I ran across this NASA page. It is a bunch of 3D printable files that NASA has provided. It has the files for the Mars Rover, various satellites, and other neat things.
hmm...maybe a reason for some of the space aficionados to get a 3D printer

Just received my U.S. Mint order of Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Commemorative Coins, hard to believe almost 50 years ago a bunch of us were crowded around a B&W TV watching it live.
When I lived in Tucson in late 80s, twice I saw the NASA 747 ferrying shuttles (cant remember which ones.) They were flying low to land at Davis-Monthan. It looked like a flying building moving across the sky.
I have seen a few land and take off, the 747 landing strip was right in front of our building. It was always hard to believe the rig could actually take off. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I was watching the Netflix production "Mars". It is a docudrama. IMO, not the best made, but still entertaining and informative. Only 6 episodes. Interesting things they bring up are how they try to worse case things. Somethings seem so obvious but others might slide under the radar for some.
Pretty good show to watch.
